Black and white Affair

Junine, on September 8, 2019 at 11:31 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I actually want an all black and white affair wedding, Not Formal but I do want all attendees to wear a combination of the 2 colors. Do you all think I'm ridiculous for asking that of my Guests?

The most you can do is suggest guest attire. If you want this I would post it on the suggested dress code section of your wedding website but I wouldn’t require it

If I was invited to a wedding with a dress code like that, I'd love it! I think it's a "know your audience" kind of thing. You know better than anyone if your guests would do it or be offended at the requirement.

I dunno. I think it depends on how you handle it if guests dont show up in your requested colors. I remember one bride on here saying she would throw anybody out who wasn't wearing white to her all white wedding.

Thank you for your insight, Its just something I would like but definately if someone didnt wear those colors I wouldn't be mad at all I would want everyone to have fun and be comfortable.

I want to do this too. I put "black and white attire preferred" on the save the dates and it'll be on the website, but not on the formal invite.

I'm having a really small wedding though, and know everyone really well. I even called about 90% of people when I first has the idea to get an idea of reactions. I said only if you have it in your closet already, (I don't want anyone to buy anything special) and everyone was excited about it, especially some of the wives of friends who are going to wear their engagement or reception dresses! I'm totally not going to care if someone wears a color, but I agree with a pp who said that it's a "know your crowd" kinda thing.

Absolutely not. It's your wedding and you vision it a special way.. As long as you aren't being too demanding about it I think it's fine !!!

Yes - I think it's too much ask.

I'd probably just say formal and assume guests will come in formal attire. It seems like a lot to ask all female guests to go buy a long formal white or black dress.

No no not formal at all just a combination of the 2 colors and it just what I prefer but not mandatory at all I wouldn't expect someone to go buy a formal dress just to attend my wedding. I just had a vision in my head is all, thank you I like to hear the different point of views
