Birth Control and Honeymoon

Lauren, on January 4, 2019 at 9:39 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4

Okay guys this is a little different for a wedding page but I wanted to ask!!

I am currently on Nexplanon, I had my first one for a full 3 years and got it replaced in October. I personally love this birth control! Hubby to be and I would like to start trying for baby Armstrong as soon as we get married, but I am curious if anybody else has had Nexplanon, got it removed and had issues? I definitely do not want to be on a period while on my honeymoon!!!! Thoughts? I had originally planned to not have it removed until we returned from our honeymoon trip but I am starting to want to change my mind. I would love to take it out a few weeks before, as I know it could take a while to concieve..

Any help/suggestions welcome!!!

I think you should discuss this with your doctor. A wedding forum isn't the best place to get medical advice.

We must be twins, I also had mine for three years and got it replaced in October, haha.

I am still on it and haven't tried to remove it. But I know people that have removed it and gotten pregnant pretty normally, within a month or two after removing it.

You also likely won't be on your period right away if you just had a fresh one in October, though it's different for everyone. For me, I only got periods in the last few months of using it. I imagine that your period would return, but it'd probably take a month before your body realized what was going on? (absolutely no scientific knowledge here, just what I think haha)

This sounds like something you should talk to your OB/Gyn about. Hormones vary from person to person and no one's experience is going to be the same as yours. I understand the desire to have a honeymoon baby, I guess, but it doesn't sound work the risk. Not only could that mean a period on your honeymoon, but who knows what your body could be going through on your wedding day. There's no harm in waiting until you return.

Hi Lauren! Smiley heart Makes perfect sense and I agree, getting in-touch with your doctor about the logistics and details with this will help you to best know how to proceed. Smiley heart

    Where are you honeymooning?
