Birdcage or none

Tranean, on May 30, 2019 at 10:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20
I’m having an internal debate about attempting to make my veil. I know specifically what I want, the problem is I haven’t been able to find one for sale that fits what’s in my head. I watched videos on making one and it seems simple enough, the problem is usually what I watch and what I do are totally opposite and it end up frustrated. Does anyone have any tips on making a birdcage veil or if anyone makes and sells them?

I have and there’s a few that I’m interested in, I’m just having a hard time finding “the one”. I have quite a bit of time before the renewal so I’ll keep looking just in case one catches my heart 💜

... For the length (tea length) of my dress and style, this veil is recommended but I'm not married to the idea... I don't like the style at all, I'm not sure I even want a veil but oh well.... I saw some pretty ones on David's Bridal tho.

Ok. I’ll have to look again. I honestly don’t remember what they had.

What is the style/look you have in mind? Can we help you look for a place to buy it? As far as making it, birdcage veils range from a strip of fabric pinned at each side of the face, to a whole headpiece, so some would be totally doable to DIY while others will be pretty complicated. What does your vision look like?

I was initially looking at either a birdcage or pillbox hat since I also went with a tee-length 1950's inspired dress. But I couldn't find any I really liked. I suggest either buying a really simple (cheap) one and dressing it up yourself, or trying your hand at making one if you're crafty. My skills do not bend to that way.

By the end of it, I felt like I was playing dress up instead of dressing for my wedding so I decided to go veil-less (with bridal hair combs instead).

I’d like something that just covers the one half of my face, I’d really really like one with a dark purple rhinestone brooch to match my wedding colors. That’s the problem I’m having is finding one already made that way. I’m totally up to having help searching. Because I have locs, making sure the comb or clip used is important as well.

I have the same issue with being crafty. Like I have beautiful ideas and they look amazing in my head but when my fingers try to duplicate, it looks like a toddler had arts and crafts day

Yup! I can do elaborate arrangements (diaper cakes, bouquets, baskets), but god-forbid I have a needle or glue-gun in my hand!

So for inspo, I went through WeddingWire's Pinterest on wedding veils and found a few one sided birdcages that you might like, just to narrow in on the style

I love those! I actually spent a few hours over the weekend looking through Etsy and I found one that I liked very similar to the last picture. I decided against the purple in the veil and just decided to let the flowers and the bridesmaid’s dresses do my purple pops

I had to go back and drool over those pictures again before I answered you lol. I really think I’m just going to order it and be done with that part and focus on DIY’ing my centerpieces

Hehehe! I'm so glad you liked them, I love birdcage veils so I was very very happy to go searching for pics for you.

Can't wait to hear (and see) more about your centerpieces! Have you always been crafty or are you trying something new for your wedding?

Let’s just say I’ve always been craft minded lol. I’m the type that has awesome visions but trying to put things together not so much. I’ve joined this group on Facebook and those people are freaking amazing! I’ve practiced with a few and I think I’m ready to narrow it down to maybe three centerpieces
