Biological family drama

Kattie, on August 4, 2019 at 8:52 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4
When my mom was young her bio mom walked out from what I've been told. Grandpa met and married my nana who raised my mom almost 40 years ago. I met bio grandma when I was 18. We've talked a few times in the past 10 years. My mom just got married and invited bio mom, nana got upset, felt betrayed. Questions about my wedding came up, naturally.

Now nana is freaking out and won't talk to me because she doesn't want me inviting bio grandma to my wedding. I have two uncles who I would like to invite who are close to bio grandma and it's an "all or none" for me because I'd feel terrible and bio would find out.

I feel trapped and just want to cancel my wedding entirely and just elope. How did their adult issues become my problem 3 generations and 45 years later? 😢😭

That’s tough. It’s really not fair of your nana to put you in that position. I would maybe sit down and talk to her to see where she is coming from.

I'm so sorry you're having to worry about this! If nana really loves you, she will set aside her differences with bio grandma for one day. As PP said, please have a heart to heart with nana. I hope everything goes okay!

I agree with PP. Your nana needs to allow your day to be about you and set aside her feelings. Just talk to her and explain how you’re feeling.

I started telling people "I'm not chosing between you. If it is too much stress for you, then don't come. You'll be missed, but it's your decision."
