Bilingual Wedding (english/vietnamese) - emcees

Christina, on January 23, 2020 at 11:06 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
So I’m finding it very difficult to find a Dj and emcee that can speak both English and Vietnamese fluently. I need some tips. I’m looking to hiring a Dj that can also emcee in English but also a Vietnamese emcee that can translate. Has anyone ever done that? Or is that having “too many cooks in the kitchen”?

Is there a reason you need them to speak both? Do a lot of your guests not speak English? If most of them speak or understand English then I don't think this is necessary. I think finding a DJ to speak both would be extremely difficult and could be rather confusing because everything would have to be done twice.

Which area are you in? My dj actually spoke both languages fluently so I had him say everything in English and Viet!

Fyi it might just be easier to get one bilingual emcee and a separate dj. Rather than have them each emcee

I live in the Bay Area, but even with the significant Viet population around here, there's still not that many bilingual Viet DJs. I ended up hiring a regular English-speaking DJ (whose interactions with guests will be at a minimum), and will have my bilingual Viet cousin be the emcee for the reception.

Unless you're willing to fly (or at least, pay for transportation) in a Viet DJ from the Bay Area or SoCal, it's probably easiest for you to do the same.

Yea I am leaning towards doing that. I only need the Vietnamese mc for the formalities if introducing everyone and all that
