Bilingual Invitations

Ashley, on August 7, 2017 at 8:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

About 60-70% of our wedding guests are bilingual (Spanish and English), but the rest only speak either English or Spanish. I'd love to do bilingual STDs and invitations, but haven't had any luck finding bilingual templates online (i.e., Vistaprint, Snapfish, etc.). Has anyone found bilingual invitations? Or did you do some in one language and some in another and send the applicable language to each guest?

Etsy may be your best bet for a template. My girlfriend did this but she went through a stationer.

I think the person who designed our invitations has done bilingual invitations before. If you're not designing yourself and looking for a vendor, here's a link: https://www.mybigdaydesigns.com/

Is there a way to do your invites double-sided? Then you could place them in the envelopes whichever side facing up that corresponds to that guest's primary language?

Minted says they do multiple languages...I think if you contact them, they will give you direction on how to do. I plan to have some menus done in Chinese so my FMIL can see the choices.

Could you order the same STD and invitation, but have them printed front/back - one side English and one side Spanish? Then they could display the side they want. If you do this, definitely get someone fluent to translate and don't rely on an online translator!

Thanks for the suggestions! I had thought about doing double-sided with one language on each side but hadn't seen a good option yet. I'll check those out the places you've named!

Vistaprint you can mess with the content very easily, maybe tinker a little to see what you can do?

If it's too difficult/expensive to find, I would also say it's not a huge deal as people can generally work out any gaps in knowledge between English and Spanish with the help of the internet. I've gotten Spanish invites and Google helped me with missing details

I also looked for bilingual invitations but I didn't have much luck. The translation was either incorrect or I would have had to order from my home country. You could create your own design/wording and print them on Vista print. I was lazy and decided to send out all English ones. The date and times for my side were written numerically (Ex: 3:30pm instead of half past three) for it to be easier to read and understand.

I will be looking into these soon as well. FH just wants all the invitations in English to make it simpler but many of our older relatives can only read Chinese!

We were gonna do that too, but was to complicated so we just did English ( we weren't sure how many of each and we didn't want to do double sided)

My friend used this Etsy store for her English/Spanish invites. They are stunning!

I created my own wording on zazzle and sent Spanish to some and English to others. I think having both languages on one invitation might look a little cluttered IMO.
