Bilingual Bridal Shower Activities

SuttonToBePerez, on July 14, 2017 at 3:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I am in need of some help! We are having a combined family bridal shower where half speak English and the other Spanish. Does anyone have any activities that are not going to be too difficult to understand. I would hate for my FSIL to be having to translate for every little thing that happens.

TIA

Also curious to see the responses... I can only think of nonverbal games like charades, pictionary, etc. I was thinking about having some sort of game where an english native speaker pairs with a Spanish native speaker and they have to ask and answer questions about themselves using only body langauage, forcing them to interact and communicate. One partner goes first, and when she finishes the other partner has to "interpret" what the answer was (they can make up silly answers). Afterwords the native speakers on the other teams give points for how good the interpretation was, how funny, realistic, etc. The team with the most points wins.

Not sure if this is too "campy" though.

One of the games my friend had at her bridal shower was a wedding gift bingo. On each square, you fill out what sorts of gifts you think the bride-to-be will receive, and you cross them off as she opens them.

That way, people can write the items in their native language and since they are watching the bride/groom open gifts, it becomes more of a visual activity rather than a verbal one.

My friend did loteria. Her cards had both English and Spanish. I thought it was neat.
