Bikini wax vs Brazilian wax

Emily, on February 16, 2017 at 7:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Okay ladies I have never had either of these waxes. I am thinking about one for the wedding in september. What do suggest and perfer? I really don't know which on to get and how soon to get it. I have uncontrollable hair that grows back so soon after shaving.

A bikini wax is only going to wax hair that would be visible in a bikini. They are pretty quick but if you're looking for anything more than that you should get a Brazilian.

Brazilian waxes will take care of all hair - your entire pubic area all the way down to your butt and then your actual butt. Some estheticians have you roll over, some just have you pull your knees in toward your face. But you'll be hairless down there unless you specify a landing strip or something.

I personally like brazilians better and get them regularly. The more regularly you go the slower your hair regrowth is and the softer it is.

It can be painful, but that's waxing. Do your research on places near you on Yelp and stuff and look for reviews that talk about a positive experience getting a Brazilian.

Typically, a well done Brazilian lasts several weeks. To avoid being red down there or having hair regrowth I'd suggest going like a week before your wedding, if that's what you're aiming for!

It's basically a (some)hair versus no hair choice. With a Brazilian (or Hollywood in some salons) all of the hair is removed. From mon pubis to perenium to butt crack. The most important thing here is, do your research and absolutely find a reputable waxing center. It would be a terrible thing to find the one place that gives you some sort of nasty infection. That being said, take your personal pain threshold into account. It by no means is a walk in the park (even veteran waxees may still feel a slight sting). My vote is also brazilian.

If I had gone with a bikini I would never have gone back. The pubic area hurts the worst for me. Thankfully I did a whole Brazilian essentially and I'm happy I did. The lips and the back hurt less than the pubic area.

Get a Brazilian! It will hurt the first time but definitely doable. You won't regret it!

Team Brazilian! Start going now so that you're used to the process by the time your wedding comes.

Brazilian! Take two Tylenol's before and for some reason it also helps to have an attractive aesthetician. Mine looks like Aaliyah :-)

I started with bikini and worked my way up to Brazilian. Now I go every 5-7 weeks and I started 8 years ago.

Brazillian is best way in my opinion. It does hurt... but I feel like it's worth it. I'm going a week before my wedding.

Brazilian for sure. I would highly recommend European Wax Centers. Also maybe you can try it out ahead of your wedding so you know how you react to it, how you like it, etc. It hurts, but I think it's worth it!

I got a brazilian for the first time 4 days before my wedding and it really wasn't that bad! I mean it hurt, of course, but not nearly as bad as the horror stories on the internet said it would...and I'm a pansy with that kind of stuff.

I read a couple forums on here about it before I got mine done though, and they all said do it 3-4 times before the wedding to get used to it and make sure your skin won't react badly. Well that does sound like a great idea, but just as a person who did it the last second way-I was fine. No bad skin reaction at all.

Definitely go for a Brazilian. A bikini wax just seems so pointless.

I do Brazilians as well. I like not having hair all up in there. I do like to leave a little hair in the front. That part hurts like crazy!

I had my first Brazilian 2 weeks ago. I had never had anything other than my eyebrows waxed, so I was a total newb.

After doing it once I swear I'm hooked. Normally when I shave I get razor burn and ingrown hairs (eww and ouch), so I had just given up and was rocking the au natural look, which my FH and I both don't mind, but I definitely prefer being a bit more cleaned up.

It's been 2 weeks and tiny hairs are just now starting to sprout. I had redness for 3-4 days afterward (but I have super sensitive skin so that didn't surprise or worry me), but nothing since.

If you can find a place that does hard wax and has good reviews, I urge you to give it a try!

I am an Esthetician and have specializes in brazilians for about 3 years now. Your hair grows in stages, and the first few times you wax you will have little hairs coming back within a week or two. Usually by your 4th appointment on a 4-6 week schedule you will stay hairless for longer, which you want for your wedding/honeymoon. It also hurts less when you stick to a schedule.

If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer them!

I have waxed and prefer the brazilian. I went to a place in LA (Stark Waxing Studio) that used "hard wax" and i will never go back to "regular" now. Its less of a burn/sting, as the wax grabs the hair and not the skin! I got laser hair removal several years ago though and don't need to wax any more. If you can afford laser... DO IT.

Brazil! It's so much nicer than shaving. None of the itchy mess.

I am a waxing junkie. I get Brazilian waxed regularly. I second taking a painkiller (Tylenol, Advil, etc) prior to going. I also go to European Wax Center which uses a hard wax and no strips. I highly recommend it.
