Big Sur Elopement?

Rizza, on July 24, 2020 at 2:53 AM Posted in California Planning 2 4
Hi everyone! We postponed our May 1st wedding to September 28, but with COVID cases rising it’s not looking so good so we’re thinking of eloping and postponing the big wedding to 2021.

Has anyone had experience with eloping at Big Sur, CA — and/or knows if it’s even possible during COVID. We have our marriage license and officiant already, so do we just pick a spot and say “I do”...? I’d appreciate location recommendations as well! Thank you so much!

Big Sur is one of my locations on my Plan C list! Limekiln State Park is the only park in Big Sur that doesn’t require a permit. Others, such as Julia Pfeiffer State Park do. I used Pinterest to search Big Sur elopements and found a ton of blogs that outlined locations and requirements.

That would be beautiful! I don't know about eloping there but I'm excited to see photos!

Have you asked your officiant for recommendations? I'd give that a shot as well!

Like Nicole, I found some really helpful Big Sur guides on photography blogs! Melissa Ergo Photography has a detailed guide (Where and How to Elope in Big Sur) and so does Lynn Lewis Photography (Big Sur Elopement Guide).

Does your officiant want to travel? (Depending on how far you are) I'd reach out to Weddings in Monterey. We were considering the same thing as well. They provide the officiant, photographer, help you with location options, permits etc. They did mention they're only allowed up to 10 people including the bride and groom, but if it's just going to be you two then that's not a problem!
