Big girl problems...Spanx/Girdle suggestions??

Mandy, on September 5, 2016 at 7:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Ok so my dress is a corset style dress & Im a plus size bride. It makes my waistline look amazing when Im tied into my dress but if youre a big girl and have ever tried on a corset dress you also know it pushes your belly down. I dont think you can tell it from looking at me but I can tell it. So, for the first time in my life, I bought a spanx. I had bridals saturday night and used my spanx under my dress. It was like putting on panties & didnt help my tummy any. Any suggestions on under garments for a big girl??

If you are looking for something with more support you can use a waist cincher. The brand I wear is squeem. I definitely suggest trying one on before you buy it because you may be uncomfortable.

I have a girdle that I bought from Lane Bryant a while back and I feel that it gives me better tummy control than my spanx. I have a corset dress as well and I still felt as though I needed some help in the lower gut area so I'll be wearing that.

Spanx vary in their level of control. Did you get the heavy-duty kind?

You can also get girdles from other brands. If you're near NYC, I recommend Bratenders.

I ordered a long line corset bra and got a Spanx skirt to hold it down. When tied into my dress, everything was smooth with no visible bulge.

I'd never worn spanx before either and thought they were supposed to be a cure-all, but even the heavy duty one did not suck in my tummy like I thought it should. I ended up going with another brand, can't remember what, just the strongest thing I could find at the department store and that ended up working a lot better for my body. Also, sitting and eating with all that on is tough!! But it sure looks great in pictures!
