BHLDN Brides

Starting the wedding dress search at BHLDN later this month, there's really only one dress on my mind from there but I'm keeping my hopes low as it seems BHLDN is made for a certain body type and mine isn't that! Any one has some BHLDN experience/advice? Pictures of your dress would be great!

I think they have plenty of choices for different body types. I'm 4'11'' and not exactly thin and I found a dress. I bought the Reagan and love it. Are you near one of their stores so that you can go try some on?

Be wary- i know someone whose bhldn arrived with a coffee stain and they put up a big fight to exchange it, saying she couldn't prove that it came like that.

I've been lurking in the past ww posts, there's a lot of comments about how the dresses are geared towards the waif-type, which is fine. I just don't want to get laughed out of the place. I fit within the measurements of the dress I'm looking at but unfortunately it isn't avaliable to ship until December, my appointment is next week in Chicago.

MMB - that's lovely, how was your appointment? Can I ask what you wore underneath to it? I emailed them and asked and they said just a nude bra or sticky bra.

    Thanks Boozy!

Which dress are you interested in Christie?

ETA: The Reagan is actually a Watters dress (The Bali) that I tried on at a different bridal shop. I ended up ordering from BHLDN because it was 200 dollars cheaper than the bridal shop.

And I just wore a strapless bra and some spanx when I went.

LOVE BHLDN! That's where I plan to get my wedding outfit. I think I'm leaning more towards doing a skirt and top instead of the tradition dress. My best friend got her wedding dress there and loved the whole experience. It also arrived earlier than expected which was a huge plus. She said they were also very helpful when ordering online after her appointment.

It's the Leigh dress that I'm head over heels for based on the pictures.

Leigh is made by Eddy K, I've looked at his collections but don't see this dress in any of them or anything similar. Weird.

It goes up to an 18 so I'll be fine size wise, just hoping it's everything I'm dreaming it to be! If not I'm still wanting that look in another dress.

I'd love to do separates, gives you a more custom dress. I plan on going to my appt a bit early to look around!

Just looked...the Leigh is stunning! Good luck!

ETA: Mine had a shipping date that was a month away but I checked everyday and it was back in stock in about 2 weeks.

I got mine at BHLDN! I'm 5'6 and super curvy/not thin, and I found a great dress there. It is just like any other bridal store in that they have a bunch of dresses that are flattering on everyone, and then a bunch of dresses that look great on specific body types.

I highly recommend them, especially if you can try on the dresses in one of their stores.

I got my dress there (Rosalind). I LOVED my experience and saw many different body types that look fabulous in dresses while there. I loved that my favorites were already pulled into the room for the appointment since you give them the names when you make the appointment online. My favorite dress was the dress I picked but I still loved trying on some of their other dresses while I was there. Also super nice that I ordered it in the store and it was at my house in just a few weeks Smiley smile

Eddy K is European sized, so their 18 is not a US 18, just fyi! That being said, I'm quite tall and curvy and loved a lot of the BHLDN dresses, didn't find them to be waif - oriented at all. This was a Willoughby by Watters one I loved, though I ultimately didn't get my dress there.

@sarahmouche the sizing on their website seems to be tailored for each dress though I could be wrong. I'm hoping it works. Although I could put it on and hate it, but I'm now not scared the appointment will be a waste! Did you end up going with another bridal salon?

I love BHLD. I got my dress there. I had a wonderful experience with them. I got the Aurora dress. I do recommend going in and trying them on before ordering if you can though. Some styles I thought would suit me from just looking online definitely did not Smiley smile.

@Christie, yes you're complete correct, the sizing is individually listed for each dress. I just meant that when you look at Eddy K sizing, it certainly is smaller than a US size 18, for example. Same with Rosa Clara and a few other designers. Their charts won't steer you wrong in my experience.

I did end up going with a different local salon but it is nothing against BHLDN, I just saw a dress elsewhere that I preferred.

I went with my roommate when she was looking for a wedding dress earlier this summer. We road-tripped to the Houston store and didn't find out until we arrived that the appointment was only for 1 hour. It was enough time for her to try on 3 dresses. She felt really rushed and they didn't have her top picks from the website available to try on. She ended up leaving without a dress.
