Can anyone with a BHLDN dress post photos? I initially bought a super cheap dress online from Lulus, but I just don’t think it will work. So, I’ve scheduled an appointment with BHLDN in a few weeks, and I’m curious how their dresses will look in person vs website. My wedding is in October, so I need to get movin on finding my dress!

I just ordered one that could either be a wedding or formal dress - I originally wanted it for the wedding but decided it wasn’t bridal enough since it was rose and champagne colored. I’ll wear it to a black tie wedding/formal night on our honeymoon cruise instead. It was delivered today so I’ll post pics when I get home!

I didn't end up purchasing BHLDN but really loved the dresses. I was looking for something with lots of beading so I loved the jacinda dress.

I looked at BHLDN. some dresses are a good bargain (under 1k) but for me, they felt more elopement appropriate. Also, alot of them don't have lining or undergarments built in, so be prepared to get them heavily altered.

Mine is champagne ivory from DB though and very bridal. I saw some nice blush ones that were too but pinks not my thing. Comes from Mom dressing me up too much in pink as a kid. If you like it go with it. Heresime before the alterations

I ended up finding something before my BHLDN appointment but before I even got engaged I had checked out their stuff and the dresss were very beautiful in person. Even some of the ones I didn’t love on the website were much prettier in person.

I fell in love with my bhldn dress online and loved it even more in person. The bhldn near me has their bridal section open so anyone can go and look around. I went and checked out the dresses in person before my appointment. The appointment is only 1 hour so make sure you picked out the dresses you want to try on prior to arriving. That hour flies by. Also, pro-tip: If you don’t purchase a dress the day of your appointment and decide on it later call them to order it and they’ll wave the shipping fee.

I really wanted to find a dress at BHLDN, I had been drooling over the dresses online before I made an appointment and was 100% I would find a dress there (and save lots of money!). I was pretty disappointed at my appointment with the quality of the dresses. Many that I tried on felt poorly made, and the beading or seams were already coming undone (yes, I know why’re sample dresses, but still!).

I’m a fairly average sized/proportioned person, but just about every dress I tried on would have required altering in the bust, or waist, not to mention hemming. So the initial savings on the dress cost for me didn’t really add up once you factored in alterations. I know you just wear it once, but it was important to me to have a well made dress that fit really well, and these dresses just didn’t.

I also felt really strange during the appointment. The shop I went to (Atlanta) had a shared, small dressing room space so there were about five brides all sharing the mirror and different sets of people were waiting to see brides. That made it really hard for me, because I felt rushed the entire time to get out of somebody else’s way.

Im still a little disappointed I didn’t have a better experience, and maybe if the actual appointment had gone better I would have liked the dresses more, so take my advice with a grain of salt. And many of the brides posting here look great in their gowns, so they might just not be made for me.

will say the nice thing about BHLDN is that you can order online and try them on and then return if they don’t fit. That’s hard to do with a boutique wedding dress!

So this is basically the same experience I had. I also went to the Atlanta store. I had REALLY high hopes for their dresses and felt certain I'd find one there. To be sure, I tried on some really pretty dresses (including the Jacinda, as above, and the Naomi). BUT I was also very disappointed in quality, and not just because of the sample aspect. There was very little structure to any of the dresses - when I tried on dresses at other shops I never had to wear a bra - at BHLDN almost every dress there needed a bra. So yes, you'd need alterations or some really spiffy undergarments. Most of them were pretty flimsy. I tried on about 7 or 8 dresses while there. I liked the Naomi a lot but again, somewhat unsubstantial and didn't really do anything for my shape as pretty as it is. None of them were special enough for my wedding gown, speaking of course only for myself. The Hearst gown was probably the nicest I tried on but it was too expensive for what it was. Quality of material and construction just didn't hit the mark.

    YMMV

(also... I didn't know until I booked my appointment that it's actually "BEHOLDEN" and not "B-H-L-D-N" lol)

**Oh - they also didn't have most of my top picks available to try on - the actual stores do not carry all of their models. I'd say skip the store if it's even an option and order online to try & return.

This oddly makes me feel better about not finding a dress there! I know most people speak really highly of their dresses and the experience, and I was feeling really bummed I didn’t feel the same. Based off of our two experiences, it may just be the specific store that played into not choosing a dress from BHLDN. Although that doesn’t solve the quality issue, but that may vary from dress to dress. Maybe OP lives near another store, or can just order online.

Also, if you’re looking at BHLDN dresses because of the convenience (order online and get it right away, price, etc.), I would suggest shopping sample sales or trying to buy an off the rack dress! Good luck!
