I was going to buy a beautiful set of earrings on Etsy. I had my heart set, despite the $68 price tag. When my budget couldn't agree I started looking at other earrings and found the "hand-made" earrings from Etsy on Ebay. They're made in Korea. I got them for $25. The only thing "hand-made" on the Etsy version was that they replaced one crystal with three beads (which for the pair cost $3 in materials). I'm altering them myself and just saved $40.

The two sellers I've found who do this are:

GlamourousBijoux ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/114447616/grace-victorian-style-bridal-earrings?ref=shop_home_feat )

and Luxedeluxe ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/103534942/victorian-style-bridal-earrings-white?ref=shop_home_feat )

Here they are on Ebay: ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/151041986089?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 ) I made an offer for $25 and they took it.

Be careful and don't pay more than you need to!

Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to do a better search, because I had my heart set on similar earring from luxedeluxe. Disappointing.

How did you figure it out? Now I'm wondering if the necklace and earrings I've been eye-ing is doing the same thing.

Ella: I just happened to come across it when I started Googling and looking for other earrings. I'd recommend copying the description from the Etsy page, like for mine it might be Victorian bridal earrings crystal. Put it in Ebay and Google. Do a thorough look around and if you don't see anything you should be okay. Also, for crystal jewelry check here: http://www.bella-tiara.com/ and see if they come up.

It's difficult to say, Bee J. If you're curious, do some looking. I hope you didn't. :-/

I got my earrings yesterday and they're beautiful. They're exactly what the Etsy sellers showed. I may not even alter them to add the pearl as the crystal is pretty.

I have been drooling over luxe deluxe!!!! so good to know!!! I'm totally looking elsewhere now!

I caught on to some interesting etsy finds... for instance I found a super cute wooden cardbox on there for $85 where they custom burned your initials into it.

I freaked out when I found the same box at michaels for $12...I had coupons so box, cheap wood burning kit, stencils, and stain only cost around $24! Ok so I realize the one they had up there was custom...but they made it seem like they built the darn thing from scratch! It was really easy to do myself...I think I need an etsy business now if that's all it takes

So glad this has helped you, Emily! I was thinking about getting into the business of dying crinolines. I did mine and it's gorgeous and so much fun. When I saw that they were charging like $120 I thought this might be a racket I need to get in on!

It's always a good idea to be a smart shopper, no matter where you are buying; unethical vendors are everywhere (keep your eyes open on eBay!). Just please keep in mind that Etsy is NOT an individual, it is simply a host site for hundreds of thousands of independent shops. One negative experience with one Etsy shop is not a good reason to steer clear of all Etsy shops. I am a jewelry designer, and yes, have a shop on Etsy, and I LOVE my brides and would hate to see them go.

I am going to design my own wedding jewelry, but if I wasn't, Etsy would be the first place I would look. I have sellers there that I love and buy from regularly, but if I am shopping with someone new, I check out their reviews.

As for LuxeDeluxe...Is the artist there soldering all those rhinestones together, one at a time? I doubt it; you can buy pre-made rhinestone components which can then be pieced together to form whatever design you want. LuxeDeluxe has been around for years, and has been amazingly successful; I would not be at all surprised if there are other people out there copying her designs. Knock-off, anyone? Finding something cheaper does not mean the more expensive item is a rip-off; it can simply mean that someone else is ripping off the original artist's designs and underselling them.
