BEWARE ETSY SHOP RENZ RAGS / RENZ BRIDAL

Virginia, on August 17, 2016 at 11:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

I am hoping to spare some brides the mistake of ordering bridesmaids dresses from the Etsy shop titled "RenzRags". I have seen several reviews/posts about them stating the dresses are actually made from China!! They made my dress to where there was so much fabric on the side I cannot zip the dress (even on the hangar!) yet she refuses to do anything about it. I will most likely have to replace the whole zipper which defeats the entire purpose of getting a cheaper dress. Her lack of customer value and care is atrocious. I have also read posts where the items sent do not look anything like the items pictured. Someone recently said theirs showed up smelling like cat urine and the owner (Miya) said it was from a chemical and the bride would need to have it cleaned. I tried to post on their Facebook account of my experience but the owner said she received my post but blocked me so that no one else could see it. Hopefully this will help warn others! Do not be fooled by the 5 stars!

Dang, that's awful! Sorry you dealt with this. Will definitely never order from her.

I ordered my BM dresses from them after a referral from a friend and the dresses for my girls came out amazing. I'm so sorry you had this experience...that's so disheartening

Hold on. Is it a bad thing they were made in China? Everything else is ... And that defeats the purpose of getting a 'cheaper' dress? Their dresses aren't really cheap imo.

What do you mean you can't zip it due to too much fabric?

I agree with Virginia, beware Renz rags! It's a total scam. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding and we all ordered our dresses from Renz. The dresses are "custom" yet when we recieved them non of them fit right. They also have wayyyyy more material then how it looks in the pictures. They are very cheaply made. I was so upset about how mine looked that I started searching Amazon to see if I could find a Donna Morgan dress on sale I could wear. During my search j came across dresses by Miss Mint that looked exactly the same as the ones in Renz. So I did a quick Google search and found that Miss Mint is a trademark of Renz. The Miss Mint dresses were also selling for half the price of Renz. Very shady if you ask me...I agree with Virginia and this place is a sham and the dresses are made in China. Not some boutique operation the Renz site wants you to believe.

I see you were not happy with your caterer or florist either.

Nancy, the caterer and florist were for my own wedding this past May - the flowers came out all wrong two days before my wedding!! They did not send half of my order and sent the wrong colors!!

But the Renz is for my cousin's wedding that I am a bridesmaid in October.

This post feel fishy......Jennifer, how do you know that the OP's name is Virginia? Her profile is private. Jennifer and OP have both literally only posted on this thread, I'm calling troll for both.

The picture is to show how the zipper looks - the fabric next to the zipper causing it to expand outward where it won't zip (I had to lay it on the bed and twist it so the zipper was in the middle to get it zipped!)

Beach Dreams - that is my name. I must have made my profile private after I initially posted. This is the only thread I have ever posted on. I wanted to give other brides/BM's a heads up so they don't get scammed like we did!

@Beachdream...good catch! I'm intrigued with this thread though. I am considering Renzrags for my Jr. BM dresses. They have over 6K positive reviews so I'm not sure about this one "bad" one.

Good catch @BeachDreams, I was actually wondering who Virginia was. Also that picture looks....normal. Most dresses with side zippers are hard to zip up.

MyBBLife - google RenzRags and see what you come up with! That's how I saw the posts about China and other brides that have had issues as well with sizing. They want our exact measurements yet somehow it's never the right size?! That doesn't make sense. There is another post from someone who also saw the Miss Mint dresses on Amazon being the same. I am wondering if the 6K positive reviews are legitimate reviews??

Maybe they are hard to zip, but this one was impossible without laying the dress on the bed and twisting it so the zipper was in the middle rather than on the side. Both my husband and myself were trying for 20 minutes before we had to twist the dress. There is no way to zip it with me in it Smiley sad

Also, if this is a legitimate "handmade" etsy shop, I'm questioning how they are able to make such mass production of these dresses with so few workers? The whole thing just seems like a major scam. I just wanted to give others a heads up to beware!!

@beachdreams It shows up as "Virginia H." on the app.

I would just take this review with a grain of salt and use your best judgement based off of other reviews as well.

Yeah that looks like every zipper on a BM dress I've seen.

Also not everything made in China is poorly made or cheap, I wish people would stop assuming that.

Maybe it isn't, but this shop is promoting itself as a handmade Etsy shop when it does not seem like that is the actual case. When you are expecting to receive a handmade item from California and it turns out to be mass produced in another country, that is deceiving and immoral.

So sorry to hear! I was going to order through them, also--until I talked to someone who had. After some further Googling, I found a lot of people have had issues with quality/f'd up dresses.

Also--they are "based" out of Cali, but everything comes from factories in China. Not to say that's necessarily bad, but you don't know who's making them and under what conditions.
