Beverage Tubs

Danni, on September 21, 2014 at 5:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi guys! We are coming up on 20 days until the big one, and I'm in the last stages of planning. We're having a small wedding (around 50 guests including wedding party), and its going to be sort of rustic/shabby chic. Ceremony is outdoors and the reception is a mix of indoor/outdoor.

For drinks we are going to serve beer/wine and soda/water. We're not hiring a bartender, so I'm trying to find beverage tubs to put all the drinks into. I'm thinking about using galvanized tubs, but the only ones I've found are either too small or too expensive. Any thoughts on other ideas?

We are total wedding twins. Same sort of feel, same size and doing drinks the same way. My FH is on the hunt for wash tubs. If we don't find some I may figure out a way to wrap a few styrofoam coolers in fabric. I'll let you know if we find any good deals.

I was able to get two tubs on stands at Walgreens of all places on clearance for $6 each. We are going to put bottled water in them for the patio.

If you have a Home Goods / TJ Maxx near you, try those type places. Maybe even Michael's.

I went to a wedding like this 2 years ago. I honestly don't remember what they did. That to me is an indicator that guests don't notice these things (unless it's super awesome or super tacky).

Sarah: how funny, same wedding date, too! I didn't think of wrapping something in fabric, but if I can find something big enough, that may work.

Nikki: we looked at one online, and it was still over $100. I tried farm supply stores and craigslist too, but nothing. I'll keep looking, though!

Thanks for the other suggestions! I'm wondering if our local ourdoor store (Academy) would have anything as well. The associate at Lowe's suggested the big metal trash cans, but I'm not sure about those for the wedding... I wonder if just having plain white longer coolers will look too tacky?

I think Lowe's might. I think a trash can might be too deep (who wants to stick their arm into the icy water for the bottom of the barrel drink?) but lots of smaller tubs would be fine. You could also get some of those tupperware style containers and use a plastic spray paint so they look a bit nicer. Target/Walmart have them on sale quite often.

Oriental Trading has some inflatable ones but I find them kind of...juvenile.

Definitely agree about the depth of the trash can idea. We might just have to do a couple of smaller tubs and keep restocking (there is a refrigerator on site where we can probably store the cans until transferring). Hmm...
