Best Weight Loss Advice

Kayla, on July 18, 2019 at 7:27 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 28
I still have 1 year and 10 months before my fiancé and I get married. I’m not at my ideal weight (wearing a 12/14 and want to go back to an 8 minimum) and want to know the best weight loss advice that WORKS. I’ve gone to the gym (I need to go back more regularly again) and I eat fairly healthy (although my sweet tooth does get the best of me). What has worked for you and how do you get motivated? Any and all insight is appreciated!

    1) Have 1-2 cheat days. Not the WHOLE day, but some of it. I am doing the weekend as mine.

    2) Limit carbs, sugar, salt and alcohol.

    3) Chew gum. A lot!!!!

    4) Carry a travel toothbrush/paste because it’s been proven that if you brush you like the feel/taste and tend to not want to eat & loose that.

    5) Realize that it takes exercise too. Download the Augmented Reality “Harry Potter” game, or Zombies Rub, and walk around to loose weight.

    6) Know that men loose quicker then women and keep it off easier.

    7) You’ll reach a plateau and it will suck! But keep trying.

I decided to start running. I normally try to get into a running routine, but quickly get bored & stop. So this time I set a goal to run a 5k(& actually run the whole time not stop & walk parts) I found a 13 week running plan on Pinterest & followed that. It was 3x a week & intervals so I didn't just start running for 30mins. I've lost about an inch or 2inches & my fiancé does it with me. He's lost a good amount of weight to. Once I got into the groove of it, it felt weird to not run. I started drinking more water, too(I have a really bad habit of drinking too much caffeine)

Beachbody on Demand and having accountability has helped me! A friend has beachbody too and we text each other every day to keep each other accountable. It would be cool to have someone to work out with in person, but this works too.

I definitely like the idea of interactive game apps that are also exercise inducing.

That sounds awesome! I personally hate running (asthma doesn’t help) but I feel like it’s something that will definitely quickly lose weight. I personally love to drink water over anything but I recently read an article that drinking coffee also helps lose weight-maybe coffee is something you can drink for caffeine?

I recommend to cut sugar. Eat a high protein and low fat diet. Try to stick to complex carbs. Try to walk a little every day and lift weights. Once you see results, it motivates you to keep going !! Good luck ! I'm trying to lose weight for the big day as well.

Weight watchers and exercise (Cardio & strength training). It works... and it creates a lifestyle that can be maintained beyond the wedding.

Running has never been one of my favorites, I'm slower than a turtle 😂 my sister is a severe asthmatic, she had a belt that she could carry her phone & inhaler in while she was running so if she needed it, it was always with her. The intervals would help her some because it starts off with very little running & more walking then builds up how much running you do over time.

Ditto to all of the above. Plus, don’t drink your calories!!! And DO drink lots (lots!) of water.

Best advice I ever got? Don't disregard the little changes you can make for a healthier lifestyle.

Drink water instead of anything else.

Portion control! Letting yourself learn little servings of "bad" foods are ok in moderation may save you from binge-eating those six pieces of pizza you've been craving for weeks.

Walk as much as possible. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park farther away from the store (when safe to do so).

    Good luck!

I started HIIT classes in March when I started realizing I couldn’t fit in my size 10 clothes anymore and had to start buying 12. Started with 2 times a week and increased to 3 times a week after a month. Also drank more water and limited my sweets. I fit into size 8 pants yesterday! Find what works for you and make the change for your life, not just your wedding!

Make sure you’re in a calorie deficit. You can eat what you want as long as it’s less calories than you burn everyday. There are apps that can help you track what you eat.

So before i had my son i could diet and lose weight easily...however after my son i was at a whopping 250lbs from 170lbs....nothing was coming off i tried to diet, exercise. After 1 1/2yrs i finally went to see my doctor because i absolutely couldnt stand being that big anymore. She prescribed me phentermine 15mg, it basically was an appetite suppressant, 1 pill in the morning and theres no jitters or crazy feelings when you take it (it needs to be doctor prescribed because the ones online are not real) my doctor would talk to me about nutrition and different eating ideas/snack ideas/work out routines. It absolutely was what i needed (a kick start) after 8 months i was down to 160 and i never felt better, and 3 years later the weight is still off! Not saying this is what you need, but it definately helped me get the baby weight off and back to my normal weight

Cardio, weight training, eating heathy (I found more success when I incorporated high fiber foods; sweet potatoes & oatmeal) into my diet, avoiding processed carbs & sugar, drinking lots of water. Find an exercise that you like. I used to run, but I can’t anymore w/o extreme pain (tendonitis in my hip), I bought a fixed gear bike (spin bike) & honestly use it every single day. I used to teach spin classes @ my gym years ago, so I have pretty on-point routines, but it also allows me to run (stand) without any impact so it doesn’t affect my tendonitis. Plus it’s at home so I don’t have to worry about making it to class, or you know even leaving the house. One day I hope to get a Peloton.

Calorie counting, trying not to eat within 3 hours of bedtime, drinking just water and TONS of it, and increasing my exercise! I love my Shaun T so I'm doing Insanity and Asylum 5-7 days a week. Since I got my dress in February I've lost 3 inches and am so psyched

Burn more calories than you consume. That’s it. Weight loss is all about a caloric deficit. That's the only way to lose weight and sustain it.

Keep track of everything you eat in an app, like MyFitnessPal. It’ll make you think about what you’re eating because you’ll see it in terms of calories. Track for a couple of normal weeks and you should be able to determine where you can alter your diet so that you’re being healthy, but so that you’ll be able to maintain. And remember, motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what makes results stick.
