I would say A-Line is flattering on all body types:

I would say a-line too. Try some.

I second the A-line. It creates a flattering figure, gives the illusion of a smaller waist, and hides the extra weight in the tummy/hip area. But does not create a ton of extra volume like a ballgown.
Unless you have an hourglass figure (Full bust and hips with a small waist) I would steer clear of mermaid, trumpet and fit to flare dresses as those silhouettes tend to bring attention to problem areas and emphasize extra weight in the middle.

There is no one style fits all. You have to try on everything to see what looks best.

Every plus size brides body is slightly different I had people who told me that I couldn’t wear certain kinds of dresses because I was heavy on top I tried on about eight different styles of dresses and ended up going with the dress that they told me I couldn’t wear and I look amazing and I’m sure you will too!! You wear what makes you feel beautiful don’t be afraid to experiment or step outside the box because you may be surprised! Also I found that commercial bridal stores had more size selection but the alterations were exorbitantly expensive compared to local stores I ended up using David’s bridal for my wedding ceremony dress and I ended up using candlelight which is local to me for my reception dress I got the same exact alterations done on both dresses David’s bridal charged me $850 for alterations my local store only charged me $160 both dresses only needed sleeves hemmed skirts hemmed and cups Sewn in. Good luck!!

A-line for sure! A loose fit & flare can work too, especially if you want a sexier look.

At a bridal salon I dressed many plus-size brides in trumpet or mermaid styles—sometimes it’s about which dress fits best yet oftentimes these styles look best on hourglass figures. Much bigger bust or hips really gets emphasized in a mermaid.

A line for sure! I’m not quite plus size (street size 12-14) but I am a size 16 in wedding dresses. This a line was so flattering I fell in love with it and the way I looked!Best wedding dress style for plus size 1

It sounds like you want a fit and flare.
I think they're a lot easier to wear than a mermaid style.

But try on different silhouettes. You may be surprised.

Whatever style you feel beautiful in! Any bride can wear any style and look gorgeous. Try on a little bit of everything and you’ll start to see what you feel best in. Go with a very open mind and you will be surprised what you love
