Best wedding dance songs

Jane, on August 26, 2019 at 7:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
My friends and family love to dance and I want to make sure to play stuff that gets people on the dance floor. Do any of you have suggestions as to what really seemed to work at your wedding? Thanks!

On RSVPs you could put a song request line and say something like “what will get you on the dance floor?”

we didn't have any group or line dancing.

Ask your DJ first of all, if you are having one, because they'll know all of the tips and tricks and they'll be able to read the room more efficiently.

There are lot of wedding dance song lists on the internet. I think a big one that works is a group dance like the Cha Cha Slide or the Electric Slide. Even though people always say they hate them, I think that having your grandma attempt the Cha Cha Slide makes the night more memorable.

Most people say they don't want line dances like Cupid Shuffle or Electric Slide, but I haven't seen it fail yet to get people on the floor. We started with a mix of 60s, 70s and 80s music, then went into 80s and 90s hits with some more modern songs. So we have everyone from Stevie Wonder to Betty Who. It was actually fun going to a bar with a DJ playing many of the songs I have on our playlist like ABC, Bust A Move, and Love Shack. I also insisted on having Lizzo on my playlist so we'll be shaking to Juice. Depending on the age of the majority of your guests, think about the songs you danced to in school or in the clubs and try to add that to your list, but keep in mind not everyone is going to want a rave feel and hits are hits because everyone knows them.
