Best way to keep guests from taking centerpieces?

My centerpieces would basically be big lanterns, and they are not exactly cheap either. I plan to keep some for myself, and sell the rest. I know and have seen guests take centerpieces from weddings or other events. So, how do we prevent them from taking the centerpieces? Are you planning on giving...

Are you planning on giving away yours? Any experiences you would like to share?

I agree!! I remember as a child centerpieces being taken, too. Thankfully, we are having an elopement at Christmas. Venue will be decorated and I know nothing will disappear. Everything is theirs. I know where I live the older ladies still do it, but it's only floral centerpieces. I've never seen a lantern taken. Best wishes.

Yes! Mostly the older ladies like to take centerpieces as a "remembrance". I am even considering saying a white lie that the centerpieces are rental (even though they are not). Lol

I'm not 100% sure yet. Candles on our sweetheart table with some simple greenery, then Mr & Mrs letters in white. We are having a mixture of farmhouse & round tables, so I'm thinking a long greenery runner for the farmhouse tables and something with white lanterns, a mix of high & low centerpieces with greenery & white roses! We meet with our florist next month so we will finalize then!

It sounds beautiful already! I, on the other hand, was trying to avoid going to the florist and having to pay so much on flowers. As much as I love flowers, I can't justify spending that much money.

Whoa. That just really hit me. I can't believe people would actually take centerpieces! That's terribly audacious.
