Best way to feed 100 people

Selia, on May 26, 2010 at 9:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

As I'm getting my guest list in order, what are the some creative ideas in feeding them? What have you ladies done to feed your guests? I can't decide between buffet and sitdown style.

We are doing a cocktail party style. So passed hors d'oeuvres and some stations strategically placed around the room to encourage mingling.

I like to eat and am always ready for food so I have to commentSmiley smile When you choose a venue they will be able to explain which would be best for your guests and your wallet. We are doing a sit-down, but I wouldn't if we didn't have enough servers to manage getting out each course relatively at the same time to everyone. It depends on the venue/catering. Every time I have been at a wedding that has had a buffet, it always seems to take forever for people to get their food, so that is why I chose the sit-down.

Depends on your wedding style and what you are going for. Our reception and wedding is very casual, so we are doing meat and cheese treys with some different sides. It works for us!

I just got married this past weekend. If I had it all to do over again, I'd definitely do a buffet. We had a plated dinner and 10 guests didn't so. That's 10 guest we wasted money on.

We are doing a buffet for 200 people. We haven't finalized the menu yet though. If you are looking for self cater ideas pasta/salad bar is always a hit and easy to do yourselves.

I did a buffet we had 165 RSVP and 143 actually show up but I had the headtable served and everyone else had to go to the buffet starting with the parents tables (i had the dj annouce that) and It worked out well. I only had the headtable served because I didnt want to have to get up and take a chance of spilling on my dress but the rest of the bridal party (including my husband) decided to go up and get their own which was fine Smiley smile

We decided wherever we end up, we want a buffet. We have about 120 people we'll be expecting. I was worried about the lines, but when all of the courses are said and done, it's about the same amount of time.
