Best toasting wines?

Alexis, on October 17, 2017 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

One of my brides maids are supplying all the wine for toasting. We are trying to make it cheaper. I do not like champagne so that is out of the question. Any ideas?

A Moscato would be good. You can get some that are more bubbly and sweet so it will appeal to more people. I would recommend Castillo di paggio or Bartenura. If you are looking for a little more cost efficient Cupcake is also a good option. Or go to your local liquor store- generally the associates can help you make a decision and at some places they may let you taste the product.

I would definitely do something sparkling. Its kind of expected at weddings for toasts, imo. Prosecco or a sparkling rose wine. I agree about going to a local merchant and checking them out. Its amazing how much a good wine seller knows!

You could still do champagne and you could just drink something different too. FH can't drink much more than a couple sips of champagne it gives him terrible heartburn, but we're still going to have champagne and he can just drink whatever he wants!

If you're looking for cheaper, barefoot has several flavors of sparkling wine, some similar to champagne and some that are sweet and tropical or peach flavored

Personally FH and I hate, HATE moscato. It's too sweet. I wouldn't drink it, I'd much rather have champagne. I think you should serve champagne and then you can have moscato

Moscato or prosecco are great sweet whites that can be used for toasting.

I am a huge fan of toasting with what is already in your glass due, in part, to all of the above opinions. FH gets a major headache after a glass of wine so I would rather he toast with a mixed drink. No reason why anyone else can't also do this.

I am a champagne person personally, and when I see it for the toast it is usually Wycliff (a banquet hall brand) or Frexinet. Prosecco could work; it is fruity enough for most people but brut enough for others.

On the low end (and used in MANY banquet halls) is Verdi. It's sweet.

I'd probably go with 'whatever you're drinking'.

We aren't doing a champagne toast- we are just doing toasts with whatever each guest chooses to drink. We are offering beer (multiple kinds), and wine (red, white, and sparklibg).

    I agree with @mfb

Can't you supply champagne for your guests and you can buy a special bottle of wine for you and FH to toast with?

Honestly you don't even need a special drink to toast with. Most people prefer to toast with the drink they already have.

We chose to do a "whatever you are drinking". Some people dont like champagne or wine, and if they do they can get it from the bar.

Most of you are getting me to lean towards toasting whatever is in the glasses. I do like that and have not head of that so thank you!
