Best time for outdoor wedding!?

Cassandra , on January 10, 2017 at 5:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Ok so we met in May after our high school prom in 09 so we wanted to have our wedding outside at my grandfathers in May but the hay won't be cut till 2nd week of June. Needing suggestions on time for perfect weather! And should I sacrifice the field I want and maybe look for another spot? He has 60 acres but the ones that don't have hay have his cattle in it! Uh this is supposed to be the easiest part and it's not planning out that way

Juli J did you mean April 25th? Lol

also, OP, depending on location- outside in June could be VERY HOT. And definitely don't do it near cattle. I would be open to researching other venues unless you live in a really temperate area!

FYI- DIY weddings are normally as expensive if not more than weddings at a real venue

@Beatrice - because if the hay isn't cut yet, I'm guessing they will have some pretty tall grass to wade through

Before you fall in love with a field, price out tents, tables and chairs, table ware, portable kitchens, port-o-sans and heaters, if you're thinking April.

    Then make the decision.

OP where are you located? Around here we'd have the first cutting done already. Especially if you ask him to do that field first. Also, def check into cost of renting everything. I found you may as well get a venue by the time you get a tent, bathrooms, etc. You may want to get married on farm for sentimental reasons though Smiley smile

Answered to this question will be wildly different based on your location. In AZ, June would be death, and May might be tolerable turning into death. In Maine, May and June might be lovely?

I live in Colorado & we generally see outdoor ceremonies from may until about October. I think it depends on the location.

Yeah, it totally depends on your location, OP. Here we have them all year around haha. Let us know where you are and then we can provide more helpful advice Smiley smile

I'd personally prefer to have my dream venue over my dream date though. So, if I were you, I'd move it after the hay was cut before switching the venue altogether just to get married in May.

I looked at your temperature averages online. I think June, July, and August would likely be too hot, but September and May look perfect! Could you do the field but in September?
