Best recommendation for fixing dry heels

Tina, on January 28, 2020 at 11:29 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 9
I went online but so many options out there! My heels are so dry and rough from winter weather and working out. What has worked for you to get rid of the dry skin and get soft heels! I’m wearing slingback shoes for my wedding and want to feel good in them.

I would do a few things! They sell these socks on Amazon that you sleep in that moisturize while you sleep. I'd buy those & try them. If they don't work, sleep with vaseline on your heels (socks over that). Buy a thick foot cream (something with Shea Butter maybe) and apply it several times a day. Also use a moisturizing body wash in the bath or shower every time you bathe. If a thick cream isn't working, I'd find a heel balm to apply. I'd think soaking your feet and scrubbing with a pumice stone might help too (or maybe getting a pedicure with extra focus on your heels?).

I agree about a spa pedicure helping to get them looking nice, but even after that, I really have to work at keeping mine up, especially in the winter when they are super dry and frequently develop cracks.... Smiley sad In the longer run the thing that helps me most is using vaseline (kind of gross...) and then covering my feet with a pair of my husband's heavy white cotton athletic socks for bed. I hate putting the vaseline on, but if I keep it up it makes a huge difference. (I've tried "nicer" heavy lotions, but they don't work nearly as well for me.)

I recently did a foot mask - the kind where your feet peel. Mine weren’t too bad but it made them softer than usual.

It takes weeks to peel completely though so I’d try it way before necessary. After that, I’d recommend slathering Shea butter or some type of moisturizer on your feet after showering and wearing socks over to keep them soft.
Pedicures are great too but you may need to go more than just once if your feet are really rough.

I so hate wearing socks to bed! Lol maybe I could just wear them at night while I’m chilling.

LOL! The reason I wear H's athletic socks is because I can't stand having "tight" socks on my feet in bed, and his are big enough (he wears a mens' 13, I wear a womens' 8.5) that they are both easy to get on my feet without rubbing all the vaseline off (which my tighter fitting socks would do) and they are loose enough that they don't bother me (they aren't "too tight") overnight. I truly HATE how thick and gross vaseline is, but nothing else works for me.... Good luck! Smiley heart

The Vaseline trick in socks can work wonders. I do that for my elbows - I cut the toe off the socks and slip them onto my elbows overnight so that they're nice and soft.

Getting regular pedicures between now and then will help a LOT. Dry, thick skin doesn't go away after one treatment or one night of Vaseline wear.

Soaking your feet daily will keep them moist, then slather on lots of lotion when you're around the house doing nothing, like when you're watching TV and can be sedentary for a while, or right before you sit down for a meal. You can also give yourself nice foot massages to promote circulation, or have your honey help you out!! Honestly, it's a nice excuse to say "I have to sit here for 20 minutes and soak my feet and not do anything else."

Things with exfoliants are good, like pumice stones or scrubs. And invest in something like a Ped Egg to use every 3 - 4 days (or an off brand one from Dollar Tree). (Note: Only use it a couple days a week. If you use it too often you will not be happy. Also only use after soaking or after bathing). These are all low-cost options (except for the pedicures) that can get your feet looking soft and healthy in no time.
