Best pen to use on wooden (drop in hearts style) guest book?

Reggie, on August 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So our guest book is a wooden frame with a plexiglass front where guests write on little wooden hearts and drop them down in like plinko. I'm trying to decide what type of pen would be best and thought you all might have some experience here. I am leaning toward sharpie pens and will likely just test them out on one but I don't want to mess up too many of course. Whatever we use has to write smoothly on the wood, not bleed, and absolutely has to be acid free/archival since clearly we want this to last. Thanks!!

Ah, @Reggie - the wedding I was in last weekend had this! I LOVED this unique take on a guest book (of course, as a bridesmaid I completely forgot to sign a heart....).

My friend is on her honeymoon, otherwise I'd ask her what pens they used, sorry!

Bump for anyone else who has seen this?

I would suggest paint pens. The wood can be very absorbent and sharpie's may not get you very far. They have different thicknesses and tip styles.

I am doing the same thing. I havent started testing out pens yet but I planned on it. I even thought about painting them so they wouldnt bleed. I know the wood is going to suck up any liquid you put on it. I would love to know what suggestions everyone gives.

I'm almost sure that a Sharpie would work, but what I'd do if I were you is take one of the wooden thingies to Michaels and ask them what would work. They always know that stuff, lol

I had a bride doing this recently. A thin tipped sharpie worked great. And you can get a variety of colors.
