Best Man As Officiant

Rachel, on December 3, 2019 at 3:55 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

We are doing an informal, intimate wedding. Only about 60 people total. We want his best man to be his officiant, and I will only have the maid of honor. There aren't any other people in the wedding party. Have other people done a wedding so small and did it work out for you? TIA!!!

Our wedding party wasn't this small so I can't speak from experience, but I've been to several weddings with no wedding party and no problems. I can't see why this would cause any issue.

This should be fine. I’ve been to weddings with no bridal party, and didn’t miss them a bit. I’m not having a bridal party, only my son who will walk me down the isle and stand next to me. It’s your day, do what makes you happy.

This sounds absolutely perfect Rachel! It’s your wedding and you can do it whichever way you want!

Ah thanks to everyone for the response! I guess it's my mom that gets in my head and makes me feel all concerned. It really is pretty low-key and I want it to be low-stress.

I read online that there should be an usher per 50 people... what do you all think? I was leaning towards no usher at all, but my mom is saying, "Who is going to walk me down the aisle?"

In my opinion, you don't need an usher! Do you have a family member that might be willing to walk with her down the aisle?

I have 3 brothers who I know who would be more than happy to do it. But it makes me wonder if our grandma's would feel similarly, you know? About being walked. Then it just makes me think I should just ask them to usher. With such a small group. I don't know... think it's all right to just say hey, walk mom and all the grandma's?
