Really anything that is personal I adore! My aunt in her ceremony both her and her husband wrote poems that were about who they were and what they brought to the marriage. It made everyone...I mean everyone cry it was so touching! I love things that you look at and know instantly it is perfectly the couple.

I wore my Grandmothers Jewelry that passed away, I wrote the whole ceremony, I brought in chairs from our house to use as our chairs to sit in during the dinner (so they would remind us that every day is a special day and also keep us grounded and normal on our wedding day), I used window panes from the house we were remondling as the seating chart, we framed pictures of our parents to have our the guest book table from their wedding, we had the same mints my parents served to their guests during our wedding on the dessert table that are from a small local candy shop, I did escort cards with a photo of each family that attended the wedding-so they looked for their photo or used the seating chart, my husbands mom made sliced coasters with cute stamps on them for all guests including a hole for them to be used as ornaments for guests as favors, she also made all of our cake stands, We had a life size jenga outside near our fire pit for people to play with, I used a jacket from my mother in law and remade it into a capelet for me to wear, I go the flower girls little red caplets to wear, I made friends and family all wood heart pins that I drew on a wood grain, everyone got welcome to the wedding 4oz glass of hot chocolate or apple cider to warm them up from coming outside, I gave flowers to the mothers when they brought up our rings for us to exchange, we did a welcoming and sharing of peace and hugged each of my bridesmaids and groomsmen and parents and said some words of thanks, we had surprise songs included (but I have heard of surprise readings that sounds neat too!), etc...lol detail overkill

I think pinterest is wonderful because it can show you the details that you feel like mater and stick out but it can also give you the feeling that every detail needs to happen...and yes they matter and are wonderful if that is your personality but they can also drive someone pretty batty trying to catch it all and make sure every detail is touching, new, different, unique, and wonderful.

We had a few personal touches people commented on. DH is a home brewer and we love visiting breweries, so we named each of our tables for a brewery that we've visited together and incorporated a bottle of their beer into the centerpieces. I also made the boutonnières and corsages and incorporated hops into them. We had salt and pepper shaker cake toppers since my grandmother collected them. For our favors, we had packets of coffee from our local coffee roaster with personalized labels.

Valarie, my husband and I are college sweethearts and we chose school colors for our wedding colors. We got married on campus in the chapel. We took a big group photo of all of the HPU alumni and it went on the school's social media sites. We did both our engagement photos and wedding photos around campus. We invited several professors and staff including the president of the university to celebrate with us. Maybe you could add something from your college to your cake or do a college picture slideshow during cocktail hour. Good luck and happy planning!

Our whole "theme" was welcoming our out of town guests to Virginia. I loved our table names, which were Virginia towns/historical places held up by Virginia wines. We also had baked Virginia ham as part of the menu and our guest book was Virginia post cards.

I am addicted to cigars and ice cream so we are having a cigar bar which will constitute as one of our many favors and we'll also have an ice cream bar during cake serving. I'm surprising my FH with a grooms cake that will be themed off The Walking Dead, his favorite show, and I will have a mini Hulk face peeking our from under our formal wedding cake. We also bought him Hulk cufflinks....And I also have an obsession with spiders so Ive incorporated a bunch of them into my brooch bouquet.

We're doing a ring warming, my vows will be written in a River Song lookalike journal, we're having a Dr. Who cake topper and themed drinks, and I'm hand making all of the flowers for the wedding.

I honestly never remember details from weddings, but this is what we're planning for ours. We're having a west coast woodsy/outdoorsy wedding.

-origami bouquets/bouts are made out of flight maps (FH is a pilot)

-invitations had a bike on them (we both mountain bike, him more than I)

-little hedgehog figures hiding in the centerpeices

-bride and groom hedgehog (as a cake topper or decoration somewhere)

-table numbers are birds from our backyard (we're bird geeks)

-origami crane backdrop made from book pages (I read a ton)

-wearing my granny's charm bracelet that my dad gave her when he was younger

-bouts are made with .303 British shells (FH collects WW2 era rifles)

-tree rounds from a tree in our yard

Oh, and our seating cards will be little paper planes made out of the same maps with people's names calligraphied (made up words, yay!) on the wings. They'll be pinched in a clothespin to make them stand up.

I loved my friend's cake topper at her wedding. They had a custom made topper that had her, her husband, their dog and 2 cats on it. I thought it was adorable and a nice way to add the fur babies to the wedding.

Ahhhhh Celia I wish I would have seen that before I got married about including our dogs in the ceremony reading. I am OBSESSED with our pups and would have loved that!

My husband and I have known each other since I was fourteen and he was fifteen so we had a picture of us at that age before we were dating and in the middle a quote that said something about being friends first always makes the strongest relationships and then on the other side one of our engagement pics. I thought it was really sweet. I felt like the wedding as a whole was just so me! Smiley smile

My cousin instead of having the clinking glasses for making the bride and groom kiss (yes it's a tradition where I'm from) had her guests make convincing animal noises in front of the head table (our grandfather is a dairy farmer do it fit)

For our wedding I had a lot of little things. I put hidden Mickey Mouse floral picks in my bouquet as I'm a Mickey fan, borrowed my grandmothers pearls from my sister (grandma gave them to her for her wedding and passed away years ago so this was a way to have her with me) mom made a rosette to pin to my petticoat from the ribbon of her wedding dress, I had a special pin on my bouquet from my nephew, while our wedding topper was traditional our cake was a cupcake tower, I added bride and groom Lego characters to two of the cupcakes as my husband loves Legos and joked abut getting an actual Lego cupcake topper. We made his son our best man, had his son light the unity candle with us, and he helped cut the cake. So many little things that made our day special.
