Best bra for Stevie Made With Love Dress?

Megan, on May 30, 2020 at 1:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hi everyone! I was able to pick up my dress recently, and miraculously with all this shelter in place stuff some seamstresses are available too!

I’ve had one appointment so far, and I haven’t decided to go with her just yet, but she did point out how flattened my chest gets once I get rid of the bra and because most of the top is see through, it’ll be hard to sew in something that doesn’t ruin the pattern.
When purchasing my dress months ago, I tried it on with a nude strapless push-up bra. My dress has a low back, so in hindsight I should have just tried on the dress without a bra at all. I’m hoping I can figure out a bra before making a next appointment, and with things slowly opening back up, I’m hoping to book soon so my dress is ready by September.
Anyone else have this dress and have a super flat chest like me that can recommend a bra? Lol.
Pictures I have don’t show how transparent the top/pattern is, but hopefully they give a bit of an idea! All are with a strapless bra.

Because of the low back, you won't be able to wear a regular bra. Have you done a Google search for seamstresses in your area?

If you are comfortable without a bra, you could sew in cups to hide the transparency without altering the look.

I’ve seen one seamstress so far, and know of a couple more that are open in my area I’m considering seeing.

The first seamstress told me to find a new bra, but didn’t really give any guidance on what to look for: Smiley sad I’ve never worn anything besides a regular push-up and strapless, so I don’t know what the best type is that both won’t show through my dress and will give some lift since I have a flatter bust.
I’m seeing a lot of adhesive bras online without backs, so that’s the direction I’m heading in so far, I’m just seeing mixed results in terms of how much lift they can give.

I would definitely find someone else asap since she is not helping you. Adhesive bras are hit or miss but you can buy one to try.

A reputable seamstress can add cups to the dress or some other magic.
Try the vendor tab at the top and look for 'alterations' in your area. They shouldn't be that difficult to locate.

I think ultimately this is what I’ll end up doing. I’m thinking maybe just this first seamstress I tried didn’t have the type of cups I needed because they were a bit too large. Thanks!

Cool, I’ll try that out! Yeah, maybe it was just the cups she happened to have weren’t a good fit, so hopefully the next place I try has a few more options. Thanks!

Definitely recommend seeing another seamstress about sewing in cups. I have a similar cut (but less sheer) top to my dress. I've tried a few adhesive options so far without success. Also with the sheerness of your dress (which is gorgeous btw) I think any adhesive option with lift is going to be noticable and take away from your dress.

Thank you!!! I've started to narrow down a list of other seamstresses to try, fingers crossed their cup options work better than this first one!!

I'm wearing one of those sticky bras with my dress (it has a see through back). I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/b075v4jswr/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_xsd1eb4g5kv9p. It works well! It didn't fall off and gave a nice push up effect.

Misses Kisses makes a really popular bra that would work for you. https://misseskisses.com/

They give a ton of lift, but they are pricey.

Sweet, I’ll check that one out!! I found a similar one from Target I tried out that miiight work, but there’s still a sliver of it that shows through enough that I’m still exploring other options to find the best one. Thanks!!

Wow, I’ve never heard of these!! So far the options I’ve tried haven’t worked out 100% so this might be worth the investment! Lol. Thanks!
