Benefits and Struggles of a Wedding Early in the day?

My wedding is a morning wedding- start time 10am with a brunch reception at 11am. We are both morning people and have lots of friends with children so it made sense. Only difficulty so far has been hair and makeup- have to pay for the salon to open early for us- but they were still accommodating. My photographer was very excited since we could still get shots after the reception if we missed something.

The comments on here are really great! I was thinking about doing this, too. My bridesmaids are all the type of people who sleep until 2 pm if they can, so I don't know that I'll be doing it LOL

We're doing a day wedding because most of our family is old and has health issues... I'm more worried that as the day progresses someone will fall out so we planned it early so if they aren't feeling well later in the day they don't miss out...

In season we have morning weddings every weekend. The standard in most of our venues is an 11:00 invite with coffee and juice and champagne, an 11:30 start to the ceremony and a noon cocktail hour, which is usually a little shorter than our evening weddings. The receptions usually end at 4:30-5:00 and then there is an evening wedding that starts at 6-ish.

The only drawback I see, besides getting up at the crack of dawn to get ready, is that you really, really have to start everything on time because there is no wiggle room to extend the party. When it's over, it's over.

The other thing to consider is that first look; almost all of my couples now are doing it, so of course, that's going to be early. This is really a case where you want a very professional photographer who is efficient and organized in addition, of course, to being talented.

Our ceremony will start at 10am and hair and make up will begin at about 7:30am. I am a teacher so I am use to being up before the sun and knew that i would be too anxious if I was up at 5:30 and had to wait till 5pm for the ceremony to start!
