Brianna, on August 22, 2016 at 4:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I am having a big wedding party. I have a bell boy and flower girls should the bell ringer come before the flower girls?

    If you're going to have a bell-ringer, he comes right before the bride makes her entrance. I would say after the flower girls.

    TacoCat beat me to it. Your wedding is two years out. Why did you select your bridal party so early?

    I have literally NEVER heard of this before about 15 minutes ago.

    Too crazy that there are 2 posts in one day.

    @TacoCat, you and I both learned something today then, because I had no idea what on earth a bell ringer was, either!

    Hey Brianna - how many people in your wedding party? We've got 41 and 46 today. What's your number?

    I've seen the bell ringers used quite often. Maybe its a southern thing? They come right before the bride.

    @travelers, I've lived in the South my whole life and I've never seen a "bell ringer" at a wedding, so I'm not sure it's a Southern thing. I still don't understand it 100% though...why does someone need to walk around yelling that the bride is coming down the aisle? Isn't that pretty much assumed at a wedding (other than a same-sex male couple's wedding of course!)? I don't understand the point of that "role."

    @Jay my friends have been my friends for practically my whole life, no need to wait to pick. And the children are my family. Thanks for all of your responses

    I can't resist adding that the bell ringer shouting "the bride is coming" seems more appropriate outside of the bridal suite during sex.

    Idk then... but I'm not a big fan of them I don't like all the noise. I think people just see it as a cute role and a way to include a child you are close to. The same purpose as ring bearer who doesn't actually carry rings. There is really no point just some like it.

    Brianna - we've had brides on here that have had MOH's and BMs that they have known their whole life and after 4 months of being engaged BAM, friendship has started to fizzle.

    If they've been your friends your entire life, then there's no reason to rush to ask them so soon. But too late for you. Just don't talk their ears to death about wedding plans.

    @travelers, you're probably right. I didn't have a ring bearer for that reason...no point!
