Being a “bridezilla”

Kourtney, on January 27, 2020 at 8:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
Hello Brides!! Have you all been called a Bridezilla (Or something close) for simply having a opinion, making decisions, or standing up for what you want? If so, how have you all handled it? I’ve found that I truly hate the term, whether it’s said in a joking manner or not.

People keep telling me" don't be a bridzilla" and i just try to brush it off but it kind of bothers me also. But i'm not too good and saying no so I feel like i'm too much of a push over even when i really don't like something.

This was definitely me before the engagement!! Now that I’m more outspoken, others aren’t used to me being that I suppose.

I say if it bothers you then let people know that you really do not like that term and it is hurtful and they may stop.

God, I've had a few of those. Mentioned an opinion on tux cufflinks, and my future brother in law joked about me being a bridezilla. I'm not the best about it either - it gives me extra anxiety and makes me second guess basically every decision to see if its putting someone out. But some I have felt strongly enough to just say "this is how I want it".

    Hi Kourtney,
Congratulations, I know what you mean, I had a bridesmaid call me that when I told her there would be no variations to the dress I wanted them in, and the thing is, I'M PAYING for it, along with their shoes and very nice robes which don't have bridesmaid embroided on them!! I think the dress is very pretty, not a ( one and done dress ) it's from jjshouse, style 105912, if you want to see it, I picked the lilac color, if you look, I'd love your opinion!!!

I was called a bridezilla once. It was because I asked that guests not wear all pink. This was purely for my bridesmaids to stand out and when I find them in a crowd it'd be easier. I know there's people who say don't dictate what your guests can or should wear but I didn't think asking for a color to not be worn was soooooooo awful -_- only one person really had a problem and they called me bridezilla for it. I'm sorry but ONE color for a few hours. There's a thousand other colors out there ugh.

I've called myself a bridezilla but it was because my FH family were trying to take over in the planning and trying to change what we have already decided on and paid for. Told my FH "Well I didn't want to be one, but they're making me a bridezilla" haha. Other than that I haven't been called one. I've been pretty easy going otherwise.
