Beginning to look like a Friday wedding for me...

I wish someone would have warned me how stressful shopping for venues can be, I'm like giving myself anxiety and stalking my e-mails! LOL

I had three venues to look at yesterday and one tomorrow, but fiance and I both LOVED the first one we saw. The guy who was covering for the coordinator had our hopes us telling us that Saturday, September 5th was still open and that there was an interest on September, October 24th... basically the very last Saturdays of fall which we really want.

So I e-mail the lady and she replied within one minute that someone JUST YESTERDAY toured and immediately requested that date. Argh, so now I jumped on it telling her I'm ready to make a payment for October or maybe a Sunday of Labor Day, and I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from her to see if I got the dates. It's been like a day and I'm itching to call but I don't want to be that person. There were 4 Saturday dates open and within a span of 1 week they've been booking up so fast! I tried hard to get a tour earlier but she did not have any availability, so I guess this spot must be hot! I mean it's all inclusive, beautiful, great pricing, so I can see why.

Anyway, I told her in the e-mail at the last resort, I'd like to see a Friday availability if none of the dates I requested are available for me to book. I'm a bit sad now because I know Fridays can be an inconvenience to our guests, I'm not sure how many would miss the ceremony, and our party would have to probably call off work or request early off. At the same time, I'm trying to look on the bright side. There's very likely Friday dates open, I'll save almost $1,000, the more important people that care would show, and I usually ask for nothing and this is the ONE time of the year. We would be able to push the ceremony to 6:30 p.m., hopefully that would be enough time.

Hi Michelle! Don't try to get to stressed out. My fiance and I are having a Thursday wedding and all of our guests and family are on board! Our venue charges $7,000 for a Saturday wedding! With our wedding being on a Thursday we were able to reserve the venue for $3,250! Almost 50% savings! More and more weddings throughout the week are becoming popular. Family and friends will definitely make sure that they take off of work!

We are going with Friday because we started off our plans with a courthouse wedding and they aren't open weekends. I had one person make a comment about it so far, but she is also a person who has a comment for EVERYTHING so I didn't let it bother me too much. Besides I drove 6 hours to her outdoor destination wedding, it was 120 degrees in mid September. If they love you, they'll show up no matter what.

I guess I'm concerned about how many people declined because then I would have to meet a minimum of 100 on a Friday. It looks like though, that many of you have experienced positives with the acceptance rate so that is hopeful Smiley smile

Friday weddings are more popular than they use to be so people are use to it and doing it at 6:30 would allow lots of people to work and still go. Good luck.

So she finally responded and said that Saturday, October 24th (THAT LAST SATURDAY!!) is available for me!!!! Smiley laugh YAY!! Poor lady, I feel bad. She's doing all this work on her vacation day just to make sure I'm happy. She even texted the guy covering for her to check for me...

Anyways, now I'm happy! I feel like huge weight lifted off my shoulders!! I would've settled for Friday but now I don't need to worry as much for those who can't make it.

I did check with some of our very important people and they were all totally on board! We are also getting married in the summer which gives everyone more room to travel during summer breaks from school, etc. Our wedding will also take place in the evening around 6:30pm to allow for any people working during the day to make the ceremony and reception.

Fridays would be better than a Sunday & like you said if they care they will be there.. As long as they know ahead of time that should be enough time to make plans to be there.

The last 3 weddings I have been to were on Fridays. Cost of throwing a wedding is just so astronomical, doing it on a Friday and saving money or getting a hot venue sooner rather than later are just some of the perks. One of the weddings I was in, I had to take off yes. Another my husband was in, I just left work early to attend a 4pm church ceremony (looked like garbage but who cares) and then came all dolled up for the reception. It was just fine. Most of your guests shouldn't have a problem to make arrangements especially if they know in advance. Don't feel bad!!!!

If it makes you feel better, we're getting married on a Thursday. It's a family only affair with about 40 guests with almost all coming in from out of state. It's actually cheaper to fly in during the week and we're covering everyone's accommodations for 3 nights

Thanks all for listening to me while I vent 😅 that’s what these boards are for right? I got the venue I wanted, and it happens to be on a big game day lol. Oh well, can’t please everyone! People complain either way. As I said, I would’ve done Friday but I was just worried of the low acceptance rate or people walking in interrupting the ceremony. Smiley smile

I'm getting married on a Friday and always planned on a day other than Saturday because of costs. As long as your guests have advance notice it shouldn't be that much of an issue.
