Beer & Wine + 2 Signature Cocktails

Bri, on June 16, 2020 at 1:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Hey everyone, I know there's a TON of alcohol calculators out there but each one I see, I'm getting different results.

We're expecting around 80 people at our wedding. A good majority of them are beer drinkers vs. wine drinkers (50/30?). We will also have 2 signature drinks (one vodka – probably a Moscow Mule and one rum – Dark & Stormy).

Not sure how to go about determining the amount of people who would drink only the signature cocktails.

I was wondering if anyone has researched the same / has experience and could help advise? Thank you so much!

Are you hiring a bartending service? if so, they could be best at directly telling you how much alcohol to buy

Our venue actually provides us with their own bartender!

The bartender should know then how much alcohol you will need. Are you having to buy the alcohol yourself? Our venue had their own bartenders and they provided all of the alcohol.

Maybe you can talk to that bartender or have your venue help you out with the calculations for that? i feel like they'd be able to let you know.

Yes we're buying everything ourselves! I've asked the venue and they have provided a general guideline but that does not account for the signature cocktails!

If the venue is providing the bartender but not the alcohol and making you figure out the quantities, see if your vendor will accept returns of anything you don't open, or try to find one that will. Our venue only allows one alcohol vendor, but they do accept returns and I think they'll help us figure out the quantities. You don't have to worry about getting it exactly right, though. You want to make sure you have enough, but it doesn't have to be enough of everything for everyone the whole night. Also, based on my experience as a wedding guest, a lot of people will want the signature drinks, especially at the beginning of the night, but not many people will want only the signature drinks. People who are not college students generally don't want to drink hard alcohol for 4 hours. Also people are more likely to order champagne at a wedding than they are in a bar, so that's another thing you may want to think about. You could also try mentioning all of those things to whoever you end up purchasing from and see if that impacts their suggestions. If none of that helps, round up and keep the extras for another party!

Ask the bar service you will directly be working with
