Beer Options (Canadian/Ontario Brides/Grooms)

For our reception, we have to supply our own alcohol so we are just getting white and red wine and beer. I'm stuck on what beer to buy. Should we just get a bunch of cases of the same or have two or more options? I love Moosehead and Mill Street Organic but also love Guinness and Keith's honey lager...

I love Moosehead and Mill Street Organic but also love Guinness and Keith's honey lager (ok... I like lots of different beers!). I really don't like light beers and also tend not to like American beers like Bud. What beer would you suggest or want to drink?

*Should be something we can get in Ontario at the LCBO or Beer Store fairly easily.

I'm from Ontario as well... I'm not a beer drinker but if you need help with white wine, I'm your girl! Smiley smile

But I think the light beer is your best option too! I think all the beer drinkers are steering you in the right direction! Smiley smile

@Ottawa2014 thanks so much! I live overseas so my mom is dealing with all of this so I'll pass that info. on to her. Our reception is in a community centre and the manager apparently has a bunch of forms and told her that he'd help her get the license and has the forms pre filled out from his end, which is helpful. Hopefully all goes well!

@Alexia, I love Mill St Organic too and also like to support Canadian beers too. I live in England and get so excited whenever I see any Canadian beers over here (fairly rare). Too be fair though... there are tons of good ales and stuff here.

@soon2be Mrs. Koekebakker, there are some darn good Rieslings in the Niagara region that I love.

Thanks everyone! I was just really unsure of what we should serve and know people can be picky about beer so figured taking a poll would be a good way to find out what would please most people (and us!). Thanks again!

We are doing the same thing. I'll probably end up with something cheaper but I'd love to just get a bunch of the variety cases from Granville Island brewery since I'm originally from the Vancouver area. In the summer time they have a Raspberry ale that sooo good. My parents are also big fans of Dead Frog and they have a brewery right by where they live. It will be interesting because I'm not a big beer person but my parents are and they will definitely have the final say.

Mmm beer! haha... MelanieM, I love local craft beer and think it would be really cool if a reception had a bunch of different stuff to try. Sadly, it wouldn't work for us as it would just mean more work for my parents. I had an orange beer a few months back that is amazing! Really clean tasting but yet so smooth and yummy.

I don't really know a lot of Canadian beers, but when we were there in November, my husband picked up a pack of Steam Whistle's Pilsner and enjoyed it? lol
