Beer and Wine!

Morgan, on April 5, 2013 at 9:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi all! Hope you are having a wondeful day!

We are doing beer and wine at our wedding. It's about 125 people, and we have decided that kegs are more cost effective for the beer. The issue is that we don't know how much beer and how much wine we should order. What do you all think is a safe bet? We don't really know for sure who would drink beer and who would drink wine.

Thanks!!

It depends on the type of keg you get and how many you estimate will drink beer. I'll probably do 2 smaller kegs for the same amount of guests, granted we also have a full liquor bar and wine as well.

I've heard 2 drinks in the first hour and 1 drink after that each hour.

We're having 100 adult guests and 1 large keg which is 124 serving in a 16 oz cup (venue provides) and 50 bottles of wine. Which is more then plenty since not everyone drinks.

Whatever is not used I don't pay for. Hope this somewhat helps.

You might also want to ask the liquor store. We are having beer, wine and two signature cocktails and the liquor store we went to was REALLY helpful in telling us how much of each to get. For example, since we are having a summer wedding they suggested more white wine than red wine since people tend to drink that more in the summer. There are also calculators on the internet that will give you a good idea of how much. This is just one that I found:

Things to think about on weather you need to get a bit more or a bit less... are the people that are coming big partiers/drinkers? If so go on the higher end. Also are most people looking at it as a vacation - staying at hotels, etc? Then they might drink more than usual. Are they close enough to take taxies home? Then they might drink more than usual.

I know for my group we would need more than the norm because a lot of our group is looking at our wedding as a vacation and staying for a long weekend so they are down to party Smiley winking They are all staying at hotels and don't have to drive because there is transportation so? They will probably drink more.... Not that they are lushes but we just know our guestsSmiley winking

We are having a HUGE wedding so IDK if my input will even help, but we are inviting 275 and estimating 200 coming. We are buying 2 kegs, 165 (12 oz.) glasses in each keg = about 330 glasses...that should be enough for 200 people and some might not drink beer. Now wine on the other hand...ugh. We have to buy it through our reception venue and to have about 200 glasses of wine is 44 bottles and over $1,000...It's killing me to pay that much, but I want to ensure that everyone that wants a glass will have enough... =(

I am having my wedding on my friends family farm and pretty much anything goes. I have to supply everything myself, so I am just trying to figure out a good guess of how many will drink wine and how many will drink beer...if any alcohol at all. I am about to just start asking people their preference! HAHA! Thanks everyone for the help!! Great advice! Smiley smile

My wedding will be about the same size as yours. I'm planning on two kegs and several cases of bottled or canned beer, since we can take that home if it's not used the day of the wedding. I have no idea how much wine to get, since most of my guests are beer drinkers.
