Beef Medallions or Braised Short Ribs?

Simone, on December 15, 2019 at 9:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

So, we were doing plated but have now had to switch to a manned-buffet. Our venue told us their kitchen couldn't accommodate more than 60 plated meals and we are now going over that number, so we have agreed to do a buffet. We have some great ideas on how to make it elegant and match our semi-formal wedding. That being said, as a guest, would you prefer beef medallions or boneless braised short ribs on a buffet? I have never eaten beef medallions, so I have no reference point. Or are they equivalent?

TIA!

I personally love braised short ribs. Not sure about the medallions but short ribs are always so tender and yummy

Beef medallions are basically just mini steaks. They’re from the tenderloin so they’re a good cut of meat.

I think they’re both delicious options!

I would love either but braised short ribs might be more popular with all guests because with steak, guests may be picky with how it’s cooked (some hate rare and some hate too well done). I think short ribs are a delicious and safer option.

Good point. My FH picked filet mignon, now im second guessing how that will turn out.
Our venue offers short ribs also. Might have to look in to that.

I love filet mignon but unless guests can request how it’s cooked it might be an issue (unless truly picky guests will just order the other option? I’m not sure!). I was at a restaurant and a friend sent back her steak TWICE because it wasn’t rare enough. 😳
