Bed Bath & Beyond registry, and where else is good?

Steph N., on December 16, 2017 at 12:24 PM Posted in Registry 0 28

I feel like I've been posting a lot of questions lately.

FH and I are going to take a day in Jan and get our registry started. I know we're doing Bed Bath & Beyond. What was the process like to set it up? Did you make an appointment? How long did it take?

Also, what are some other good places to register?

You meet with a "specialist" on location who will give you information and walk you through the process. The person can walk around the store with you or you can elect to move around alone with the product scanner.

Took us about an hour and a half approximately. We also decided on Macy's. Some of their prices were surprisingly a lot better than BBB.

I did BBB for majority of the stuff and also Macy's for what I felt was the "nicer" things like our bedding and China.

For both places there's a person who talks you through some things and gives you a checklist. They can walk with you but I opted out of that because I like to make my own decisions. I did a simple vase registry first like pots and pans, towels and the things I wanted to see in person. For the rest and majority of it I added online. I found it was helpful to look at other people's registries to give you ideas and to help you remember things you might forget.

Amazon is great to fill in blanks, and it makes it easier for out of town guests because everything can be shipped for cheap or free

Amazon is great and so easy to set up and manage. We also did Macy's and I really enjoyed the in-store experience of picking items out. I thought their perks are great too, if you have a a Macy's credit card you get points for the items people purchase.

I cheated at BBB. I started my registry online so they never did the whole China thing (though I'm in love with one of their Lenox China's). My mom however wants me to go to the Lenox store and see it in person before I put it on the registry which makes sense as it can look different online then in person

We did B.B.B and Williams Sanoma and set up both online. We didn't really want anything so just picked out about 30 things so there was enough for my shower and a few left over for the wedding.

I just learned about Crate & Barrel. I'm doing them online as well as Amazon since you can pretty much get everything there cheaper. I don't like feeling like I'm asking for things especially when they are pricy.

We had two appointments at BBB. The first one was about 1.5 hours and, since we still had more to do, the assistant said we should make a second appointment. I went back for that one myself, and that only took about 30-40 minutes. I liked being able to see stuff in person and think that BBB's site is really annoying.

We also have amazon for more fun and hard-to-find items.

We just walked in to BBB, no appointment. It took them a few minutes to get to us, but then we were fine, we wandered the store for a few hours and added things, then added more off the website when we got home.

Amazon registries are super easy and convenient for anyone with internet access too.

Macy's, Crate & Barrell, Pottery Barn, Anthropologie. I've heard of Amazon, but am weary of an online registry only because of not being able to see physical items beforehand.

We did BBB for our engagement party and honestly it was a pain in the behind. It took the whole day, the woman walked around the whole store with us talking about EVERYTHING in the store. FH was exhausted and soooo bored. The one thing I did like was their china never goes out of stock. If you break a plate in 5 years they will still have it to re-order. I will be registering at Crate and Barrel closer to time and probably Target, but I'll most likely be deleting the BBB registry because I felt pressured to add a lot to it I didn't want.

We skipped BB&B because I had about heard negative experiences from other couples (taking a lot of time, being followed around by an employee, being pressured to chose items you don't want). We created a registry at Target and everything worked out great.

I'm just curious because I see weary used this way on the forum a lot...is there a colloquial use of weary that I don't know of, are you tired of online registries, or do you mean WARY, as in cautious? Not trying to be snarky, I learned a new colloquial use of 'extra' on WW, honestly curious!

I think registries depend a bit on your age. Young and just starting out and the ones mentioned above are great. We are older and have a lot of the basics. I really like cooking so Williams Sonoma made it to the list. FH wanted calamity ware bc he is a bit of a geek. So I had to do a registry with myregisty. It links all your registries together and even lets you register for single items from any online site. My biggest fear with just putting the calamity ware on my wedding website is that we would be sent too many dishes with no real way to return them.

We’re not to the stage of creating a registry yet, but I like Amazon for ease of shipping and incredibly large product selection, Target because they get all my money anyway, plus 10% off any items not purchased, Bed Bath and Beyond for fun kitchen items, and Macy’s for nicer home items. We definitely aren’t going to register at all four. Will likely create 2, possibly 3 but honestly haven’t decided yet.

I loved registering at Crate & Barrel. It was the easiest place to work with (our other registries were with BBB and Macy's). They were fantastic about returns and we never had any issues. I also loved that in addition to getting an online code after our wedding to use for our completion discount, they also mailed us a registry completion discount card, so anytime I went into the store to get a couple more things that hadn't been purchased off our registry, they just had to scan the card at checkout and it immediately pulled up our registry and applied the discount. Plus, so many cute things!
