Beauty School Hair + Makeup

Rachael, on October 15, 2017 at 8:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 14

Has anyone used a beauty school for hair and makeup for yourself or the bridal party? My cousin did this and it worked out well, but I'm not sure if she just got lucky.

I haven't for a special occasion but I used to go to the Aveda school salon and it was hit or miss. Sometimes I got someone amazing and other times, not so much.

I don't think I would....part of being a pro is timing, knowing lighting and cameras.... It's not Tuedsay; it's your wedding....

As someone who went to beauty school, I honestly would not recommend this. I'd definitely look into someone more experienced than students for wedding hair/makeup.

A bride I was a bridesmaid for hired a few students from the beauty school to do this with her bridal party. It was nice, and the other bridesmaids and I looked a lot nicer than doing it ourselves. It was also optional too, so if we didn't want to have it done by them, we didn't have to.

Trials are important too though, especially for students to see if they can deliver what is expected. She personally knew the students she was hiring, so there was that level of trust there

For my hair and make up as a bride, I would probably stick to a professional/someone who knows me and my hair. But I think it's can be a nice gesture to your bridal party

If you know the student and have worked with them before, I think it could be fine. But if this is the first time working with them (even with a trial), I really really wouldn't. Consistency takes practice.

I would say she got lucky. I used to live in a town that had a great beauty school and I got my hair done there a few times with a lot of success. When I moved to where I was living now, I went to get my makeup done at the beauty school here to see if it was an option and it definitely wasn't. The place I went doesn't use great products and the application was basically foundation and filling my eyebrows and that's about all. I would hire a pro and make it optional for your bridal party, and if you're really worried about their cost maybe you can pay for it or cover part of it for each girl if you can spring it.

As a licensed cosmetologist I say no only because it is hit or miss plus 99% of the time they make you sign a waiver stating it your hair is messed up or not how you want it you can'y legally do anything or take action against them- you have to remember these are students they're learning so they may do a decent job but this is your wedding I would splurge on hair.

Honestly I wouldn't. I've tried to go to a beauty school for my hair before (both cut and style at different places) and had HORRIBLE luck. I'd never do that again.

Honestly, I wouldn't trust a beginner to do bridal make-up since it is destined for one of the most important events in someone's life. I remember the process of me trying to find a suitable mua for my wedding. I got over some students at different cosmetology schools in Oregon providing the service I was looking for, but I immediately understood that I better reach out to a more experienced specialist. In the end, I was very satisfied with the final look, and I continued to go over and over at that lady whenever I needed high-quality make-ups.

Yes, I had. It is an important day so why not spend some money for good hair and makeup?

Students would still be learning what works and what doesn't. We have even seen here some cases where the hired MUA did a trial that left people too orange-toned.

Yes, I had. It is an important day, so why not spend some money on good hair and makeup? For example, I wanted everything on such an important day in my life, and six months before I even got plastic surgery from gartnerplasticsurgery.com . I always had insecurities because of my small butt, so I got a butt lift. I am extremely glad I decided to get a butt lift because now I like how I look, and finally, I got the body I always dreamed of. I am telling this because it is a special day in your life that happens only once, and you need to have an extraordinary look.
