Beaded Dress possibly rubbing arms raw- prevention suggestions?

Susan, on August 10, 2017 at 10:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My dress is beaded under my armpits and while trying it on the other day I realized it may rub my arms raw. Does anyone have any tips to prevent this?

It does rub my arms, but since I didn't wear it for an extended I wasn't sure if it will be fine and just a little irritation or if my arms would be raw by the end of the evening.

    Thanks for all suggestions.

Even my tulle dress rubs under my arm! Ack! I use Monistat anti chafing gel on my thighs when I wear shorts or dresses, and I might try that in my underarms area to see if it helps. I'm asking my seamstress to save a scrap of my dress when she hems it so that I can check that the gel won't stain it. Once it dries in my skin it feels like nothing is there, so I think it should be okay as far as staining goes.

I use body glide as a runner and it works so well! Highly recommend it!

A lot of seamstresses will offer to just remove the beading in the armpit area. It depends on the dress of course, but usually no one will even notice the beading isn't there.

Get body glide! I used t for mine and no rash or painful rubbing. Also nice for thigh rubbing and sweating.

When trying on dresses I was becoming a fan of bedding but didn't like the feeling of it on my underarms. The lady that was helping me said that most seamstresses can take out some of the beading in that area to help with it.

Carrie H is right, I was going to say the same thing, there is a sheer tulle-like material that you can put over beading and or sequins to prevent rubbing/catching. I'm an Irish dancer and girls use it on the inside of arms and the upper back of dresses so it does not get caught on wigs. That being said, if you are wearing your hair down consider whether or not it may get caught in the beading on the dress as well.

Monistat anti chaffin gel is amazing! It works as a great makeup primer too

    Hi KayTran,

Mine wasn’t an issue with the lace, it was the beading but I ended up having my seamstress sew a thin layer of tulle over th beads and I had no issues
