Beaded Bridal Cape?

Erin, on September 11, 2019 at 10:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
As many of you probably know, I’ve been dealing with some dress regret. I’ve since come to realize that my main problem with the dress is that the skirt is really plain. It has sequins sewn in under the top layer of tulle, but it doesn’t pop as much as I would like design wise. My 1st thought was to see about having some beading sewn around the bottom of the skirt, but that seems like it will be very expensive.

People recommended a cathedral length veil. I don’t want to wear a veil, but it got me thinking about bridal capes, which might be just what I’m looking for. However, All the ones I have been able to find are either plain, faux fur trimmed (lovely, but not for an april wedding), or all lace. The only one i found with any beading at all was $2,000. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look besides Etsy or Amazon? And has anyone found or seen beaded bridal capes? Or would lace look ok if there isn’t a single bit of lace anywhere on my dress?

I would think the only was lace would look good is on a dress with no lace. Otherwise you’d have contrasting lace patterns. I wouldn’t find that attractive. I say if you like lace, go for it.

Have you thought about an over skirt? You can get lace or beading and they are cheaper than capes

I love the idea of a bridal cape!! I think they’re so luxurious. I’m sorry to say I can’t help as far as finding a less expensive cape, other than looking at a bridal store.

For the cape, I would recommend talking to some seamstresses in the area especially ones that aren't specifically for bridal stuff. For example, find someone who can make you a cape and don't mention wedding. There are a few seamstresses/sewing ladies in my city that do cosplay so that could lower your cost and have it look the way you want it to being custom

Would something like that work over a dress that’s already a ball gown?

Or see if someone can sew on a beaded line at the bottom of your skirt, or add a beaded lace to the bottom. That might be cheaper than having a whole new cape made.

I'm actually having the opposite fear that my dress has too much going on and it's more costume like than bridal
