Beachfront wedding - no arch?

Maui K, on August 25, 2016 at 7:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Our ceremony will be held on the grass shown in this picture, which is directly in front of the beach! Do you think an arch is not needed, or will it be weird to not have one? I thought the view was so pretty and a arch would just block it during pictures.

Don't have an arch if you dinner want one! This is truly a circumstance where "it's your wedding, do what makes you happy" applies.

I think it's ok! Check pinterwst and wedding blogs to see beach weddings with no arch and see if you like the way it looks!

I think it looks beautiful! An arch is really a personal preference, so if you and FH don't want one, don't have one.

I don't think an arch is necessary, but I have heard that for photos it is better to have something to "frame you" so it doesn't look like you are floating. Rather than an arch that would block the beach view maybe have some floral arrangements or lanterns on either side of you something like that.

    Thank you all!!

I was nervous about people walking behind us and getting in pics, but the beach area is so small right there, so it shouldn't be an issue!!! Smiley smile YAY

I think it's Ok to not have an arch. Pictures of the two of you at the beach side will look beautiful with or without the arch in the background.

If your looking for alternatives to an arch this is pretty! I have also seen this with lanterns at different levels!

I think arches are nice, but not necessary and the background is gorgeous so it's not like it was a blank wall behind you.

(I thought the picture looked like Hawaii, so I looked at your details) Do you have a wedding planner/DOC/point of contact there to ask about if it will even be allowed? I think it might be a bit of a gray area here since it is on the grass, but it is actually illegal in Hawaii to put any kind of structures in the sand for a wedding, including arches and even chairs. The grassy parts of public beach parks are okay though. Sometimes people still do it, but you're risking a $5,000-$20,000 fine if you get caught. Also, make sure you have a permit, because it will be another fine if you get caught without one.

We are getting married in a similar setting and thought the same thing. We opted for pillars with large flower arrangements for the alter.

Erin, make sure your arrangement is firmly anchored -- I've see the wind topple them.
