Beach or Church, only options?

Hey all! FI and I are going to be getting married in Wilmington, NC. It is a destination wedding and we are having trouble figuring out where to have the actual ceremony. We do not live in North Carolina, so this part has been difficult. I only seem to be finding either churches or beach. Are there other options? Are there churches that would officiate if we weren't part of the denomination? We would like something close to the reception, down near Wrightsville Beach or within 20-ish minutes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What is your reception venue like? Have you inquired with them about another room or space that you could utilize for your wedding?
Are you hoping to have an indoor or outdoor ceremony?
You could also look into some local libraries, museums or even historical buildings for the opportunity to have your ceremony there.

The reception is above a restaurant, and they have a space for ceremonies, but it isn't big enough. I think I would prefer indoors, but I'm not super hung up on that detail.

Hello! I'm getting married in downtown Wilmington (I also live here!) so I've looked at quite a few places. I feel your pain, Wilmington is definitely catered to beach weddings! If you're open to outdoor options, try Arlie Gardens or the Arboretum. They are both close to WB and provide a beautiful background for a ceremony!

There are many cute rustic/outdoorsy places in downtown Wilmington! I was there in October for engagement pictures and there were so many ceremonies set up.

Personally I would not get married at Arlie Gardens, the have ALOT of rules about noise what you can and can’t do. Because they want to protect their birds. Fort Fisher aquarium does weddings they are pretty nice. If you want a nice beach, Kure Beach is so beautiful and romantic. If I wanted a beach wedding it would be there.
