Beach ceremony help or advice in Massachusetts

Chris, on May 19, 2019 at 9:43 AM Posted in Massachusetts Planning 0 2
I was looking for a venue to have my ceremony only but trying to stay in the $1000 budget. Which I find difficult for even under 100 guests. Now I decided I will skip cocktail hour and just have a beach ceremony mid afternoon a few hours before reception. Our reception is at a Chinese banquet restaurant. I perfer not to have my ceremony there. Also we are not religious at all.

But for the beach I've read you have to apply for a permit. You'll also need a permit for video and photography too?
How do you go about chairs and arch? Rentals or just skip it since ceremonies are short? Any recommendations in the South Shore beachs but not the Cape area? Thanks!

    Hi there Chris!

    Congratulations on your engagement!

Yes, it is likely you will need permits, I would advise you reach out to local authorities to get clarification on what you need and how to go about applying.

With the chairs and arch, you can rent if you wish. There are lots of vendors who offer this service on the WeddingWire vendor directory - Boston Wedding Rentals. You can narrow this selection down further by the city if you wish.

If you’re having a short ceremony on the beach, you could have a standing ceremony if this is something you want to avoid renting. However, if you are having elderly guests, it is a good idea to have some chairs on standby for them.

How many guests do you plan on inviting?

Guest list is small about 30-40. Usually ceremonies are quite short? We aren't doing any other traditions. Just our family and a officiant. I did read up on permits and I did not know about needing one for wedding photography.
