Beach ceremony and reception (renting a beach house)

Cenica, on August 2, 2018 at 12:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So my fiance and I found a beach house to rent and it goes right out onto the beach after the sand dune my thoughts were to do our own Arbor and we can also do our own canopies for the tables and chairs but the Dance Floor is our problem should we get a dance floor or should we just have people dance in sand it's flat in Delaware so we don't have the problem with it being extra hills. thoughts on should we have the reception on the beach or should we try to do something inside the house

As long as the rental allows events (many don't), get a dance floor and keep everything outside of the house. By doing so there is less risk that you will be charged for damage or an extra cleaning fee. You'll also need to research local noise ordinances to see what time you need to shut the music off.

We are also getting married on the beach (in California) at a private residence. Our initial thought was to have everything on the beach. I had the whole Pinterest vision of the long farmhouse table on the sand...blah, blah, blah. I got a lot of pushback from the vendors. No one would do a dance floor on the sand. Even the tables/benches were a problem. The house sits on a bluff, so the caterer would have had to drag everything down. There is no power, etc. I didn't want people to have to go up and down the hill. And at some point, we would have to drag all of that up to the house to avoid it being, god forbid, stolen off the beach at night. So we are now having everything in the house/outside deck area. If we get there that week and the weather is fabulous, I might just change my mind and make dinner down on the beach anyway. Who knows. As far as a dance floor goes, we are going to dance in the living room of the house, as it is all new hardwoods.

Lucky for us, it is not a rental, but our best friends home. So we have a little more leeway in what we can do.

Hey Cenica! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley ring You'd definitely have fewer liability issues if you had it outside! Just try to design a way for everyone to dance comfortably on the sand, maybe a large rug could work! Smiley smile
