Beach Bonfire - La Jolla Area! Any Locals Please Help!

Chantel, on July 27, 2012 at 5:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi everyone!

I'm eloping in San Diego on September 15th to my US Marine! We are laid back and are having a short, simple ceremony on Windansea Beach with close family & friends (about 15). We are from Texas, and we love to be outdoors so I was chatting with my MOH and we think it would be fun to have a "Beach Bonfire" afterward. It would be the perfect fit for us; just a carefree, fun evening! I do have a few questions on how to pull this off!

-I've heard La Jolla Shores is great, but that you have to get there so early to get a spot. I was considering hiring someone to do this; good idea?

-Are the fire pits/rings out in mid-September?

-Is alcohol allowed?

-Is there a time we have to leave?

-Do you have any personal suggestions on different locations or input in general?

I called the city, but the lady wasn't very nice or helpful! I figured y'all would be SO much better for advice on this & I want to thank you in advance! This is the last piece of the puzzle for my wedding details!

I can answer a couple of questions:

    -Alcohol is not allowed

-No glass is allowed on the beach

-I am not sure what time you have to leave but groups of 25 or more must disburse by 7PM.

*I am getting married in San Diego (Coronado) next month.

Here are some things I found online about ALL san diego beaches:

Glass containers are prohibited if used to carry liquid for drinking purposes.

Beach Fires. Fires are permitted only in fire containers provided by the City or in personal barbeques elevated off the ground. Coals must be removed or deposited in hot coal containers.

Dogs are permitted on beaches and in adjacent parks only from 6 p.m. – 9 a.m. and must be leashed at all times.

Alcohol is prohibited at all times at all City of San Diego beaches and beach parks as well as State Beaches.

    No Smoking

If no one in your party is good at waking up early, then yes, hire someone to be there early. Since it's a Saturday, you should be at a pit by 7 or 8am.
