Bathroom issues in a mermaid gown

Vanessa, on December 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 10

No one talks about it, but I'm just going to come out and ask- how can I go to the bathroom by myself? More specifically in a mermaid style gown.

Sure I have my sister and bridesmaids to help, but I want to TRY to do it alone. Any advice on how to do this? And the peeing part is easy, but what if there's #2 involved?!

Thanks!

I would just get help getting in and situated and then have them leave and come back when you're done. just make sure you have air freshener. Smiley winking

All jokes aside I have heard brides say they will be wearing diapers during the reception to handle #1. As for the #2 I really don't know what could be done

I have already prayed that I not have to do anything besides pee once the dress is on. I am gonna try the sitting backwards thing. If you do that, make sure to take all undergarments OFF. Don't just pull them down. I am going to have my sister, mom, and BMs (no pun intended) on standby though.

I plan to try to sit on the toilet backwards. I actually googled how to go to the bathroom in a wedding dress before...lol because I was very curious myself.

And I would never wear a diaper under my wedding dress so I could go #1. I have a big enough rear, I don't need it to look any bigger! Smiley tongue But no really, I wouldn't because I wouldn't want that to be something I end up looking back on on my wedding day...that I wore a diaper the day I got married. I'll accept the help to avoid this.

@futuremrsh Why not try that poo-pouri stuff? I've heard it does a lot better than air freshener!

I never thought of having to use the bathroom in a mermaid gown - I'm glad I didn't choose one of them after all (they were my original first choice of style).

Thanks for the responses ladies. Diapers are out of the question. My FH would never let me live that down.

I've read this thing about how to use a garbage bag - you put a tiny hole in the bottom just big enough to step both your feet through, then you pull it up to your waist without letting the hole get too big so you're holding the top of the bag with your dress in it. Then you just hold the bag up and do your thing. If I didn't explain it clearly enough try googling it. I think I will try this because I don't want to sit backwards on the toilet - I just don't feel coordinated enough to not make a mess with that!

After reading some responses, I guess this would be something only for a few brides. I would definitely do it and will. After my child (at 23), my already non-compliant bladder became even more demanding. They are not saggy, baggy, leaky or uncomfortable, as I have worn them previously on numerous occasions when a bathroom is not around the corner. I am also a nurse and you can get all types of these undergarments all over the place, online etc…I use Northshore Supplier (even Walmart). Patients and millions of babies don’t complain about pee in a diaper, I would’nt recommend them for anything else unless there was a real disability issues present. My girlfriend wore some last year at her wedding, at my advice, and she loved it and used it. There was no leaking and she was able to change when the timing was more convenient. She also wore a small white plastic pant over because she was afraid of leaking, but she said there was none. You really should’nt judge w/o trying it yourself. I use them at Disneyland, Knott’s, theaters, long car drives, flights, etc…and always am glad for it. I will be wearing some on my second wedding end of this year with some plastic bikini panties from adult cloth diaper. I don’ have a real medical need, but my doctor knows and says its no big deal. I dont know why so many people have such an aversion to this; is it taboo or did they have harsh childhoods; who knows.
