Bathroom boxes... why?

Ann C, on December 10, 2019 at 10:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
Why do those boxes with Tylenol, wipes, hair spray exist. Has anyone ever used anything in them? They just seem silly to me

Because it's a courtesy to your guests. I've used hairspray out of one before. I've also seen lots of people take gum, bobby pins, and ibuprofen from them.

I think they're a great idea! It's all about enhancing the guest experience as much as you can Smiley smile

Interesting. I normally keep all of that stuff in my own purse

They're not a requirement. If you think they're pointless, don't offer them.

Food is definitely a priority, while bathroom boxes are not. There are lots of different ways other than food to make sure your guests enjoy your wedding, but they're not all necessities Smiley smile

I never carry a full purse with me when I attend weddings. Usually I just have a small clutch big enough for my phone and my ID and maybe a credit card or my car keys if I’m driving. I’ve used lots of stuff out of the bathroom boxes at weddings I’ve attended, but I don’t think they’re a necessity. Our venue had them so this wasn’t an added expense for us.

I actually think they'd be a nice gesture for guests but definitely not necessary

We had them in the two larger bathrooms (our venue had two larger bathrooms with 3 stalls then one set of individual bathrooms for guests). At the end of the night, we noticed the advil had been opened, the gum and mints. We had a few other things but those are mostly what was used. It was also nice to have for bridesmaids & groomsmen since we all got ready at the venue and some people needed flossers or bobby pins. We spent about $50 on bathroom boxes for 2 so it didn't go into our food or drink budget (or any other budget) at all. They certainly aren't required, but we did get compliments on how we focused a ton on guest experience at our wedding in many aspects.

I think they're nice and have used things out of them before but they're definitely not a necessity, especially if it'll stretch your budget.

It's a nice thing to offer, but as PPs have said they're not a requirement. I've personally never used items from bathroom boxes

Definitely not necessary, your guests will be fine without one. I've never used one. It's a nice touch but the money would probably be better spent elsewhere.

I think this is a waste of money. Have i used something out of them? Yes. Would i have been just fine without it? Yes. Odds and ends are leftover and your guests will be fine using a cocktail napkin to blot their eyes vs a Kleenex from the bucket in the bathroom.

I had one. Mainly with feminine products. Mostly because I was supposed to start my period the next day so they were mostly for me. I don’t think anyone used them

I think it's a nice gesture, especially the Tylenol.

Like others have said, it’s a nice gesture. Not needed though. If you wanted to do one I don’t see why they should take up a considerable amount of your budget. I would think $10 per box would be fine.

I think these bathroom boxes are a great idea, although definitely not a necessity.

I've been to wedding that have had them, and some that haven't. My FH and I decided to do them just in case our guests need something during our reception that they do not have with them.
