Bathroom basket

Tina, on March 4, 2021 at 12:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 28
My venue asked us if we can bring in supplies for the bathroom basket in the men’s and women’s room. All fine and everything, but my main concerns is which items is really important to bring for each? Since COVID Is around I really don’t want people to be sharing items for health reasons. So some things like boobie pins are separate, but I know that ones like pads and such comes in a big pack. Just need some opinions I’m going to look for smaller items so it won’t need to be handled with multiple hands - hairspray. Like big hairspray with multiple hands touch / little ones people will take.

What is the nicest way to say here’s my bathroom basket wash your hands before and after to keep items clean for other men/women.
I have about 50 guests. Mostly women.

Why is the venue asking this? They should provide these things. As a guest, I have never seen nor needed bathroom basket items. Nor has anyone we know at other weddings.

Individual items are very expensive. There is no tactful way to say that..and you are going to be out alot of money.

I'm confused as to why the venue expects you to provide these items, I would expect this to be the venue's responsibility, but if it is in your contract, then I would ask them to give a specific list of items that you need. Check the trial/travel section at the store for mini versions of each item.

These are fine to do if you WANT to but your venue should not be asking that you provide this. My MIL was super interested in little details like this that I didn't care about, so she took it upon herself to provide a basket or two with dental floss picks, hand lotion, etc. which was totally fine. I have never used these at a wedding because i typically pack things i might need (bobby pins, dental floss, lotion, compact) in my purse when i go out like that.

Main things to include (in my opinion): hair spray, Band-aids, antacids, Advil/Tylenol, bobby pins, stain remover, breath mints.

If you're going to include pads/tampons then I recommend getting the packs where they're individually wrapped. Then you can take them out of the box and just have them loose in the basket but it's still sanitary because they're individually wrapped. Same would apply for Band-aids - just take them out of the box!

If you're able to get the individually packaged Tylenol/Advil packs, that would also eliminate the possibility of multiple people touching the same bottle.

You could also include a bottle of hand sanitizer next to the basket and a sign requesting people sanitize before taking anything from the basket? Something along the lines of "To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, this is a kind reminder to sanitize."

Tampons, disposable masks (people may want a new one after eating/wearing it for a while), hair spray.

Honestly not sure at all. I also have never seen it before maybe I didn’t really look either. I figure to bring toothpicks maybe handful of other important items which is why I’m like hate to buy one and everyone touches it or bring bunch of little items and hope people won’t take.

I agree with everyone else on this. I've never seen a venue that tells you to bring a bathroom basket. That's very odd.

Really don’t know. I asked them what the heck it even was. I’m like what is this once they said what it was I’m like oh yeah makes sense to a point.

That’s what I want to do. I will look in the grocery store it has bunch of little items. I don’t want to spend a bunch. I honestly don’t remember it being in a contract.

I was thinking a tiny one for things maybe not carried with you (hairspray) I was looking online and saw pads/tampons honestly if you have it you should have pads. Like not expecting it be there. Maybe that’s me I know when I’m going to have my monthly present.

Talk to the venue and say you are unable to provide them and what they suggest. Everyone woman I know carries essentials she needs in her purse or uses high quality products to not need touchups.

People will not take them. No need to worry about that. If you do decide to do this (I wouldn't), have sanitizer or Lysol spray on hand. Most people are more intelligent as guests than they are given credit for.

Same here - I just can't think of anything I would need like that. Again, totally fine if you want to provide something like this, but seriously no one will even notice, let alone miss it if you don't have anything.

If it's not in the contract, I would first talk to your venue to try to get out of having to do this. Ask them (in nicer terms) where in the contract it says that you have to do this. If they absolutely insist or if it is your contract, the travel/trial section usually sells those things for like $1 each, so it shouldn't cost too much! Things like first aid kits (including band-aids, pain relief, etc), mini hairspray bottles, small containers of floss, etc. I don't think you'd need to buy much of each item. I wouldn't spend more than like $15-20 on it.

If you must buy these (do what you need to get out of it), go to Costco. Typically if there is a business center warehouse in your area they will have individually wrapped items. You can keep leftovers.

I take a look at that. Appreciate it.

I’m thinking of bringing a basket and leaving in the bridal suite in case people need it and I can give to them. Makes more sense to me less hands touching items.

Sounds good. I’m thinking just have one basket with me in case someone needs it then they can ask me. Less hands touching things

Honestly I’ll be on my week so I’ll have pads myself.

I’m thinking just have few items in a basket for myself and if they need they can ask me for items. Less hands touching things and if nothing needed at least it’s there in case. I honestly take things in a purse around myself

That is what a coordinator does. You won't have time to track them down when you're eating dinner or on the dance floor.
