Bathing suits, at a lingerie shower?

*~WiiFeY~*, on February 3, 2011 at 8:28 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I'm having a lingerie shower next month and the girls throwing it asked me to make a "wishlist" on Victoria Secret's website. So I did. I've come up with about 15 things (there are 20 people coming). There isn't really anything else on there that I love, that isn't over $60. And I really don't expect people to pay that for lingerie!

Anyway.. Smiley smile One of them mentioned I should pick out some bathing suits on the website for my honeymoon. I LOVE VS bathing suits, so I would love it if some of them bought me some new ones to wear on our honeymoon Smiley smile But, is that okay? Its not technically lingerie.. And I don't want to seem like a brat and just asking for anything.

What do you think?

I've never been to a lingerie shower so I'm not familiar with the etiquette but if they tell you to do it, I say go for it!

It doesn't hurt to add it to your wish list. It gives people the option of what to buy, and it will be something you'll be using on your honeymoon! Also I'd go ahead and add a couple of the things you liked that were over $60. Some of the guest may put their money together to get you something on the pricier end of your wish list. That happened for my wedding (not my shower) 3 of my co-workers bought me the GPS that I had on my registry.

I think its acceptable to put bathing suits on the list!! VS ones are awesome! :-) I have so many and whenever I am online or get the catalog I'm want more! but I've been holding back, I don't want like 10 tan lines! Besides, in a way the bathing suit on the honeymoon can aid in getting FH excited for later ;-) lol so it is kiiiinda like lingerie!

Mrs. Brown had a great idea! You could change the theme to "Honeymoon" type items. People could get you lingerie, swimsuits, massage & edible oils, etc etc...

Isn't a swim suit a little like "daytime lingerie" anyway? I mean they can get pretty skimpy and be very sexy. So why not include it. If someone thinks it's inappropriate, they don't have to get it. What's the big deal. It's something you want anyway, right? So ask. They'll decide if it's something they want to get for you.

Thanks guys Smiley smile I agree, it might be more of a "honeymoon" kind of shower, because a friend of mine already mentioned some oils and a kama sutra lol Smiley smile plus, i picked out a "just married" hoodie too that I want, and that doesn't classify as lingerie Smiley smile

Sounds like fun!! :-) So I'm unfamiliar with a "lingerie shower" is it tied in with the bachelorette party? I've been to bachelorette parties where we get lingerie for the bride or VS cards.. or is it just a separate shower altogether too from the wedding shower?

Ab- I guess some people can combine them, but we aren't. I've been to a few. Pretty much everyone just buys lingerie or "sexy" gifts. There are some naughty games, kind of like ones people might play at a bach party, and I think we're going to have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. That kind of thing Smiley smile Its just like a regular shower- food, games, gifts.. and everyone sits around and watches the bride open gifts and cards and such.
