Baseball theme ideas

He Asked & I said Yes, on November 26, 2009 at 4:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

My fiance and i are both major fans of baseball (our team is the dodgers) and we want to make that our theme. We have some ideas but I'd like to see what others think? Any ideas for center pieces, place cards, seating chart, music, attire (for the wedding party), etc. We want to be fun, interesting and a little different. PLease share, thanks.

Also, another theme in mind, MOVIES! But like classic movies (Marilyn Monroe, Casa Blanca...that kind). Any ideas? Thanks.

The middle pic has a cute idea of what to do in place of table #'s, each table has a different team on it. Or you could name them for players on the Dodgers team.

What great pictures. I love the baseball theme, that would be a great way to go. The movie one can also be a really fun one just have to find old movie ideas.

For the movies theme...here were some ideas I found online and some are my own. Hope this helps!

Music: A swing band or a DJ playing classic music from the period.

Setting/Venue: An old movie theater/house (if there's a local one) An old fashioned supper club

Transportation: Arrive/depart in a vintage Rolls or gangster type of car.

Table Settings: Name cards can be from old movies or actors/actresses and put them in clapborad frames. or have little Oscars as card holders.

Ceremony/Reception Deco: Have a "walk of fame" leading to the alter or a "red carpet" with red velvet ropes. You could also hang posters from your fav vintage movies.

Here is the site I found the majority of this at...

For the garter toss, both you and your fiance can sign and date a baseball, wrap the garter around it, and have your husband toss it out to the guys.

For a grand entrance - you could do a Baseball Tonight theme. Takes a skilled DJ to pull it off - feel free to grab my contact information and we can talk about it.

PS: Baseball is my favorite sport, too!

It looks like there are some great ideas listed for both the baseball theme and the old movie theme. If you decide to go with a seating chart using the movie theme, you could say "Starring" (you & finace) list your MOH and BM as Best Supporting Actress and Actor, Bridesmaids and Groomsmen as Character Roles, Stunt Men and Women, or somethingalong that line, and Flower Girl and Ring Bearer as "Upcoming Stars". Something similar could be done with a baseball theme - maybe the bridal party can be referred to as the "home team" or "starting lineup"... you get the idea.

We Do Dodger themed weddings and parties all the time. one favorite floral touch ( and this would also be cute for your Movie theme) Take Popcorm boxes and fill with yellow stock blossoms, it looks like a box of buttered Popcorn, we also use baseball vases and add team color flowers Blue Delphiniums and white roses or mums.

Love all the pics posted above!! If you are looking for save the dates or wedding invitations I have a few cool ideas. I think it would be cute for your save the dates to have you both in baseball jerseys but you would have a veil and a bouquet in your catchers mit. And your fiance would be holding you over home place like he is carrying you over the threshold. Let me know if you are interested.

    Good Luck

OMG....Im a huge baseball fan (Love the Redsox!! - Traci love the fenway invite you have above) Someone I know did a STD that looked almost exactly like the above fenway invite (she said she bought the magnets at micheals) My friends who got married last year (one redsox fan, one yankees fan) did their table numbers as player numbers, so on the table it said like Pedroia 15, all of grooms family sat at sox number tables as they are all from boston, and bride family sat at yankee number tables as they are from CT, then at the head table they had the coach's name and number. I absolutely loved it when I saw this!!! I thought it was such a cute idea!! Also the Jersey that traci has up top, if you and FH love the same team, you can find custom jerseys - you can have last name on back of jersey and you can get the year you got married - so your gettin married in 2011 - so your jersey could say 11

For music....im not sure if the dodgers have a song, but for the redsox we sing sweet caroline after the 8th inning at every home game (ive even been to some away games where there are so many sox fans, that the crowd just starts singing it) so sweet caroline is a must at our wedding

Hey, i wanted to tell you one more thing. At Fenway in Boston, they actually have an area at the stadium where you can have your wedding ceremony/reception, so do you live close to the dodgers stadium, does the dodgers stadium do something like this?? it is always something you could look into. Fenway was just too far of a drive for most of our guests!

Love the pics above! Definitely a nice touch with the cake too... He asked & I said yes, another thing you can do, which I've seen at a venue was rather than numbering the tables you can do different players of the team (each table is a different player) or a different stadium that they're playing at.

Good luck! Can't wait to see pics of what you come up with!
