Bartender Issues - Vent Session

Kaysey, on February 7, 2020 at 12:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

Sorry for the vent session and long post but I'm very frustrated right now. My FH and I are supplying a full open bar for our wedding, We're getting our alcohol from total wine for a great deal and we've had a bartender picked out since November. She bartended at my FSIL's wedding in November and my FH got to talking to her there, asked her if she was licensed (b/c our venue requires it) and asked her if she'd be willing to do ours too, which she said yes. Well today I went to purchase the insurance for the alcohol for the wedding and had to call my venue coordinator to get some information for what they require to be covered. While on the phone with her, she reminded me to also send a photo or copy of our bartender's license with her ServeSafe Alcohol or Tips Serve Certificate when I sent the alcohol certificate for insurance for our wedding day. I texted my FH to ask our bartender to send those things to us (b/c he's the one who has been in contact with her about the wedding). Well, he texted her and now she's saying she isn't licensed. Now we have to find a new bartender for our wedding that's in 22 days.

The issue I'm having with this is that we asked her if she was licensed before my FH asked her to bartend our wedding. We've been asking around to see if any of our friends know licensed bartenders and, although we should be able to get one locked down by Monday, it's incredibly frustrating that she told us she was licensed and when we asked her to provide us with the information our venue needed she finally came clean and said she wasn't licensed. I spoke with my FSIL and she told me she also told her she was licensed before she agreed to do her wedding in November, but my FSIL's venue did not require the bartender to show their license.

If you have trouble finding someone, try a site like thumbtack. Might be a bit more expensive but you’d have someone.

I don't think we're going to have an issue getting a new bartender. We live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and there is no shortage of bartenders here, lol. It's just so annoying that it happened. But I am grateful that I was buying the insurance today and my venue coordinator reminded me about the copy of the bartender's license because I completely forgot about it. At least I have some time to find another one. I guess she thought she could get away with it again b/c she already did once with my FSIL and got lucky that her venue didn't ask for any of that information. Who knows how many times she's done it.

Thank you!! We have one of my FH's friends asking one of his cousin's if he could do it. If not, I will 100% look into it! Smiley smile

She can do online TIPs training very quickly. If you really want to use her.
